EDIT:
- Total applicable GV’s will be divided into 12 equal parts, rounded up to the nearest Rs. 5, and each of them will be valid for a specific calendar month and can be redeemed in the same calendar month as marked on the GV.
- Your purchase has to be 4 (four) time the value of the GV that you wish to redeem, i.e., if you wish to redeem a GV of Rs. 100/- you will need to buy for Rs. 400/- and pay Rs. 100/- using GV and pay balance Rs. 300/- using any alternate payment method.

any reason in particular you want to buy canon 550D? Have you considered Nikon D5100 its almost the same price but far superior to canon 550d.
Yes bro even i was confused between these two initially but then decided to go for Canon 550D over Nikon 5100 after taking advice from few people.
Hi qwerty,
I believe investment in camera in secondary, its the lens which is most important. I would first look at which lens would suit me over time and then look for the body.
Typically for an amateur Canon is better as lens are cheaper as compared to Nikon, because for D5100 you need to buy lens with auto-focus motor built in the lens which cost much more.
However, the game changes if you invest in semi-pro models like D90 or D7000.
I would also like to mention that usually pros say lens made by Nikon are optically superior as compared to Canon, however, the difference would be too marginal for an amateur to notice.
Happy shopping!
@QWERTY bro, eBay sellers usually take out the free accessories like camera bag which costs 499 and 4Gb memory card which costs around 300 and sell them separately:
camera bag: http://www.ebay.in/itm/Canon-EOS-DSLR-Cameras-B…
4 Gb memory card which came with my Nikon D7000: http://www.ebay.in/itm/220876222561?ssPageName=…
So you stand to loose 800 if the seller is not offering these freebies from Canon in his deal.
The fact is that the camera bag has Canon logo and is not the safest thing to carry in urban areas as it screams expensive gear, steal me!
The free camera bag would have to be replaced by a better padded camera bag which I am also currently researching. So not getting the free camera bag shouldn’t be a deal breaker.
@Pappu Dimer, bro I agree with you cent percent on this. Just to add, pros go for Canon generally especially for sports and wildlife photography due to cheaper and better range of lenses. Nikon is catching up slowly and steadily on their lenses in pro category.
Do checkout this comparison between Canon and Nikon lenses:

Hi,
If you need an inconspicuous camera bag I would recommend Lowepro Camera Sling. You would almost toss it for another sling bag, however, looks are deceiving as it hides a padded compartment for camera and an extra lens. Plus you can carry other things like sunglasses, mobile, books etc outside the compartment.
This looks unlike any other camera bag in the market. I personally use it and it serves my purpose.
anyone know the best place to buy tamron or sigma lenses?

I was initially going for the medium sized Lowepro 202 AW SlingShot camera bag. Check out the deals here:
http://www.desidime.com/forums/deal-baba/topics...
There is a drawback with this bag that it is designed to be worn over one shoulder. I would like to shift the bag from one shoulder to another for a day long photography gig. A normal back-pack would serve the best for all day photography.
I found a bag which has the quick sling feature of the LowePro SlingShot as well as the convenience of a back-pack. It can be used as a sling bag over either shoulders or can be converted into a back pack.
It is the Kata 3N1-20 3in1 Sling Back Pack
Check out a demo video here:

Amazon Price $87/Rs.4,263: http://www.amazon.com/Kata-KT-D-3N1-20-Sling-Ba...
eBay Global EasyBuy is selling it for double the Amazon price : http://orders.ebay.in/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ImportHu...
You’ll have to get it from the US as Letsbuy and Flipkart yet don’t have this model yet. You can find the basic 123 Go models though (these models have an inferior shoulder strap I guess at a $20 lesser price):
Letsbuy.com listing of Kata 123 Go:
(size)
10=small
20=medium
30=large
I am getting the medium sized 3N1 bag when possible. It will help me use it as a sling-bag and a back pack. Bingo!
For a beginner camera with a 18-55 kit lens, the small sized bag should be good. It will be slightly lighter to carry. In case you have a semi-pro camera with a 18=105mm lens attched and a couple of extra lenses+accessories, then medium size is essential. Small size won’t fit your camera with lens attached. If you a photo journalist carrying 5-6 lenses, go far large size or better go for a proper back pack ans save your back.
A sling bag is best for light gear and short photo walks. I would recommend the Lowepro 202 AW SlingShot for Canon 550D with a few additional lenses as the gear’s weight will not break your back. You can also look at the Lowepro 102 AW bag if no additional lenses are to be carried. And yes, all these bags come with a rain cover and can accommodate a small tripod/monopod.
The Kata 3N1 series needs an additional accessory investment for carrying a tripod:

You may also consider saving 1k on 202 AW from this eBay listing:

@ Kage01, buddy
I made a goof up-didn’t write the name properly.
The name of the bag is Lowepro passport sling, it looks like a handbag.
I am not familiar with how to post a picture so I am putting the link instead:
http://products.lowepro.com/product/Passport-Sl...
The ones you have posted are pure camera bags and provide better protection, however, I though of investing in a bag which I could use otherwise too. Plus I find its inconvenient to pull the camera out from backpacks and hard slings as they require considerable maneuvering so reach the opening.
I use it for carrying books to study when I am not carrying the camera in it.

We were discussing different genres! LOL
Lowepro is definitely a premium brand. They also sell stuff at a premium price.
Kata is value-for-money IMHO. They give better padding/protection and also the yellow interiors help you in finding the small accessories quickly.
There are other brands like Think Tank and Vanguard which didn’t make it to my A-list.
It’s good to have a multipurpose bag and I’m having a tough time finding one. There is no multipurpose bag after all I guess.
Side Note: Whichever bag one buys must have some protection from gravity and bag snatchers!
EDIT: I am now checking out the Passport Sling as an option. Available on Flipkart.com for 2508.
Thanks bro!
Zoomin with Diwali-4000 gets you this at 34,795 + ~50 for shipping = totaling to 34,845. They provide some accessories too. Shipment too would be quick.
http://www.zoomin.com/Canon/EOS550D
Letsbuy doesn’t allow yahoo on this product. Others are priced almost in 38,800 range.

Yeah Lowepro is definitely expensive! I bought this bag for 2200 from flipkart few months back, I guess they increased prices now.
As I said this is a bag for casual shooting and not something you would like to take on hikes or treks where you might need extra protection for the equipment.
The best thing is it doesn’t look at all like a camera bag and I like to be clicked holding this one rathar than a humongous backback or sling.

Cheers!

Haan bhai yahi buy karna padea
I’ll have to search for Memory card and bag separately
Qwerty bro, you should go with eBay. Also call the seller and ask him about any freebies and most importantly about the transit insurance, quality of packing, courier company and any hidden costs like taxes – octroi etc.
If the seller can answer these questions with confidence, then place the order using the weekly eBay coupon to get 1000 off.
As far as the free accessories go, you stand to lose max 800 like I explained. If you want the Canon bag, it’s available for 499 and the 4GB card is Class 4 one which you can get easily.
