Amazon Prime - There's Something Fishy !!
Something is fishy here !!
Have u guys noticed, The Price Errors, Loots and More than 70-80% discounted items are very common now a days in Amazon?
And the thing is, Most of the products in above categories are under the price tag of 499/- ?
Dont you guys think, the Price Errors, Highly Discounted items and Loots are a part of their Prime Campaign?
Definitely they want a Non-Prime Subscriber to* feel bad and cursing him/her self* for not opting for Prime Membership during these so called Great Indian Sale days.
May be, They haven’t got much response to their Prime Membership as they have estimated, and their Business Development Team came up with this idea of Price Errors, Loots and highly Discounted items?
Now they came up with 50 Rs Cashback on Prime Membership.
Started in June 2013 in India, Now Amazon completely understands the mindset of Indian Consumers. Amazon now knows how to manipulate Indian consumers and How to make them do what Amazon wants…
Humble request to all of my fellow dimers to share your views, analysis and knowledge.

P.S. Thanks for being a part of the discussion.
Amazon even though customer centric company, their one of the primary goal will always remain to make profit.

What is your views exactly..
1. We should change our mindset.. So that Amazon won’t guess it.
2. Amazon is very good to finally acclimatising Indian environment
3.Any other?
I shared my views already Sir @mahidada , looking forward to others.

Not at all, they are not fool.

Yes. Something is definitely fishy. But if you are in a city where Amazon pantry is available, may be we prime is worth. Additionally amazon content may be launched by 9th nov
I don’t see a problem here. They are not doing anything unethical, just offering discounts and making people realize what they are missing out on by not subscribing for Prime.
I am sorry, but I am unable to see the point you are trying to make.
@sherlock I don’t think so. As I said elsewhere on DD, Prime is really good for one who buys lots of FMCG online. Those in metros can expect super-quick deliveries. Plus there is pantry. Prime early access and Prime specific deals are enough for them to grab customers.
These PEs/loots have always been there since the beginning and we all know the reason.

Yeah…rightly said, Prime is worth for Metros specifically.
It isn’t fishy, it’s obvious. They are doing various things to promote prime and I think it is a win-win situation for both amazon and the customers. We shoudn’t be complaining.
@sherlock There is nothing fishy. But, yes, they are obviously trying to aggressively promote Prime because of the pure profit potential.
I think that an overwhelming majority of non-Prime subscribers include other filler items in their orders to reach the free shipping threshold. And most of the times, people even hunt for discounted fillers. So Amazon doesn’t make much profit from those orders, if any.
But with Amazon Prime, they are not only getting a large influx of cash but 499/customer is a huge guaranteed profit — every year! So it makes complete business sense for them to directly and indirectly influence our minds to subscribe to Prime.
With that said, your observation about the increased number of superb deals lately (lightning or otherwise) is indeed correct. And this change probably does fall under their indirect marketing strategies.
P.S. I have been a Prime subscriber from Day-1.

Buying behavior can be easily analyzed by any online merchant, no wonder amazon is making the right move.

Since you say quite a long ago, I am assuming it wasn’t in reference to Prime. In any case, please do dig up that thread and post the link. Curious.

@DealSeeker,
Is it a coincidence that they introduced Prime and the deals lesser than 500 are flowing in?Skeptical!
Exactly what I wanted to explain,
Lets see what happens next when they will achieve the estimated number of Prime Subscribers, we should expect a fall in deals for sure.

They will never reach their estimated numbers. Because,
1. Their targets are usually very high.
2. We are Indians.
