@siddhant90 Not much of an anime fan. But I found “The Secret World of Arrietty” and “Spirited Away” to be extraordinary. There is another one that left an impression on me, but I can’t recall its name.
Thanks. They will be the next thing on my list

OMG! You can’t call yourself an anime fan without seeing those two.
So your only exposure to anime is the kid cartoons on Indian TV?

Well it all began with DBZ and later after getting internet connection i started watching them online. Since i liked DBZ i generally searched with terms like “Animes like dbz” so most of those were Fighting type animes with super powers
Code geass is also one the anime which i liked which had little less role of powers and more story

Well time is perhaps the only thing one has to sacrifice while watching animes
Death Note – World’s No.1 anime, with IMDB rating of 9/10. [Hence, my DP]
Simply a great addiction(inspiration) for me. How to tackle all impromptu situations, it is all about extreme presence of mind and being always 100% logical in your decisions.
Damn, these Japanese manga series, the quality they produce. Hats OFF.
I sometimes think, do kids in Japan really understand these series, since they are their target audience, but as far as the level goes, I think it is really overwhelming for their minds [even for us still at this age, I will rewind at each dialogue missed during the show ] or may be their intellectual levels are really really high at that age.
Thanks @DealSeeker for the tag.

Kids, teens, pre-teens, those who are yet to hit puberty.. take your pick but cartoons can’t be targeted for adults. That’s a no brainer thing to say even.

Death note was certainly one of the most interesting animes i watched. I wished it had more episodes!
After watching such long series like DBZ and one piece seris like Death note seem quite small. However the amount of suspense and turns in the story fill up the gap for the limited episodes.
@infrared1100 Although they are seemingly world’s apart from “Death Note”, have you watched the two movies I mentioned above?

Ever heard, good things come in small packages?
Absolutely clueless about this anime thing .. But after reading the comments above, I developed some interest specially after reading @infrared1100 comment ‘it shows how to tackle all life problemm’
will put it on download tonight..

Not yet. Death Note is my first, I hated anime, until this one blew my mind.
I am more of a TV Series guy. [I guess, you already know that] Oh! The cliffhanger at Cersei’s scene, can’t wait till Monday.
Spirited Away looks promising.
Just now added the .torrent file to my client

I will just say one thing. YOU WILL NOT REGRET.
The only thing you will regret is how come you haven’t watched it until now.
Come back to this thread after you’ve finished the series. Take your time.
You can thank me later.

That’s a common trait among all Japanese movies/shows.
If you have the patience, watch “Seven Samurai” and “Rashomon”. Neither are anime by the way.

Both are movies.
Off course DBZ
transformers
Beyblade

Then you have no idea about Anime/Manga/Animation’s target audience. They are equally popular among adults as well as kids. I have seen many such movies which are not in any way a kid’s genre. Like Waltz with Bashir, Seven, etc. I like watching movies more than series in case of animation.
Thanks for ur suggestions @DealSeeker @infrared1100 @siddhant90 .. Will definitely hav a look at them .. I hope I enjoy !

Firstly, I was not talking about what your personal preferences are. You are free to mention that without quoting my quote and generating an unnecessary notification.
How, do you know they are equally popular among all? Did you do a global survey? 90% of stats are made by people at any instant according to their convenience. [I did too…]
Will try to see all the animes you’ve mentioned. Thanks for that though.
Death note & naruto
Death note was insanely good and naruto has everything from action to emotion to passion.
P.S: Waiting for the stupid fillers to end.

Which Seven are you referring to? Se7en wasn’t an anime movie. Link, please.
BTW, I also liked Waltz with Bashir.
I am not a big fan of anime, that is the reason I haven’t watched Death Note yet even though it has a very high rating. But the below movies are my favorite:
1. Grave of Fireflies – Surprised to see that no one mentioned this movie. One of my favorite. I Didn’t knew animes can also make you tear until watching this movie. A must watch.
2. Spirited Away – This is the first anime which I have watched coz of its ratings. Didn’t disappointed me at all. Excellent movie.
3. My Neighbor Totoro – Loved this movie.
4. Howl’s Moving Castle – Another awesome movie by Hayao Miyazaki. If you love animes, then you should definitely check out all of the movies of Miyazaki.
5. 5 Centimeters Per Second – Watched it long back, don’t remember much but I think I liked this one too. Love Story
6. Last but not the least, the little anime part in Kill Bill. That small part is just WOW!
Sorry for talking to that guy on a open thread on this public forum.
Second, I don’t make things up. I speak only when I am sure of the fact.

No Seven wasn’t an Amine. I was talking about animation genre in general. They are not just meant for kids as the grumpy guy mentioned.
