BigBasket Now Offers Flat 5% Discount (Total Discount: upto 15%!)

Was not sure if this deserved to be posted in “Hot Deals”, so posting it here. But this is surely an important and good news! Let’s not forget that this in-store discount would be in-addition to the PayUMoney 5% discount (upto 50) and the flat 5% discount on orders above 2000 (code: BIGMAR15).

To get the best deal, people should add Rs.2000 to their BB wallet in two transactions of 1000 each (total discount until this point: 100). These wallet funds can then be used to buy items of 2000 for another flat 5% discount via the code BIGMAR15 (total discount until this point: 200-300). If used right, these discounts will result in a total savings of 15% on grocery items, which is huge!

There are ways to save a little more, but I can’t reveal them for fear of misuse.

Terms & Conditions

  1. Offer valid in Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Pune
  2. The discount does not apply to fruits, vegetables, products sold under BigBasket brands such as Fresho!, BB Popular, BB Royal, Baby Foods, Feeding Bottles, Edible Oils, Ghee and Atta
  3. Offer will not be applicable on website promotions.
  4. The merchant reserves the right to cancel orders that are deemed to be fraudulent by the merchant’s fraud detection system.

Those of us who have bought Amex gift cards at min 5% discount, load Bigbasket wallet using those. Its either 5% discount using these gift cards for loading wallet or 5% for using PayuMoney, which is subject to max Rs 50 discount.

I guess being able to use the Amex GCs is a big plus for some people considering that there are not that many places that accept Amex GCs. By the way, the 5% discount upto Rs.50 limit is per transaction. So if you need to buy items for more than Rs.1000, you can simply add money to your BigBasket wallet in chunks of Rs.1000 as many times as you want to easily circumvent that unintentional limit.

Moreover, for every Rs.1000 that you add to your BigBasket wallet, you get a delivery voucher free, which can be used to get free delivery for orders of any amount (even a single item of 10 bucks).

I also want to highlight a few more good things about BigBasket:

(1) Now with the introduction of flat 5% discount, people can’t complain anymore that groceries cost more at BigBasket than their local supermarket or other chain stores. IMO, that was never the case anyway because of PayUMoney 5% discount.

(2) I am not aware of any other eCommerce business in India that offers a 150% refund guarantee if they fail to deliver the ordered item. Although non-fulfillment of ordered items is a rarity despite their aggressive delivery timeframes, their WYSIWYG policy automatically credits not only the amount for unfulfilled ordered items, but an amazing 50% extra! This policy is applicable only in Bangalore and Mumbai.

(3) Same day delivery for orders placed before noon.

(4) No questions asked return and refund policy.

(5) Intelligent and helpful CSRs – same level or better than even Amazon.

(6) Amazing SLA! I have never had a late delivery – orders were always delivered within the chosen 3-hour window. I have heard that they credit 10% of the order amount as an apology if they are delayed by even 30 minutes!

(7) Focused on customer service rather than marketing. In other words, their philosophy is the opposite of Mobikwik’s.

Full Disclosure: I am a BigBasket fan who can’t stop raving about them. https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_toungueout.gif

In case the transaction thr. Amex GC processed thr. payumoney, then both discount are commulative,
as only 95% amount will be debited by payumoney.

-however, some competition from costclub, reliance fresh, greencart and local baniya.com.
however bb is best in service !

i have to do 4 transaction (>1k) on Amex for getting rs 250/- cashback pm.
Bigbasket orders every sunday makes my eligibility for that !

That’s it – perfect explanation for why BigBasket is going to be huge! Which other eCommerce business can lay claim to happy customers even after delivery messups?!
