Well after posting my first ever deal from Amazon, people are continuously asking the same and same question every time they come through a new post related to Amazon. So, I thought maybe why not just make a page regarding buying from Amazon. I will be discussing only products you can buy through Amazon Global. All other sellers dont include tax which happens to be too much. So, here it goes.

www.amaz...om

1. How to know whether a particular product is shipped to India or not ?

Basically you can know in three ways about the eligible products.

First way is to search for the product you are interested in on Amazon’s search box and add it to your cart. You’ll be asked to sign-in to your Amazon account. In the next screen, you will see if that product is eligible for AmazonGlobal Saver Shipping or not. There if any import duties will be given,it will be shown in your cart.
https://i.imgur.com/GlA8r.jpg

Second WayBut the issue is, not all products are eligible for Global shipping. So, I’d suggest you to search for the category of the product, rather than the specific brand. For example, instead of searching for Nikon D3100, search for DSLR and then click on the department Camera & Photo on top left, and finally the “Amazon Global Eligible” link below International Shipping on left sidebar. This will list all the eligible products under that category. Hence makes it easier for you to find the product you might like to purchase under AmazonGlobal Saver Shipping program.

https://i.imgur.com/UN8sb.png

You can repeat the process for different category of products or even for different models of a specific brand.

Third Way Use this extension.
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/does-...

After installing, something like this will appear on every product’s page of Amazon.

https://i.imgur.com/3GWxA.jpg

Click there. Select country as India from dropdown and then click check shipping. After that it will show a list like this.

https://i.imgur.com/OI1hL.jpg

Just check under the name in the list if “AMAZON” is mentioned or not. If not then the product is not eligible for “Amazon Global”.
And the best thing about this extension is it tells you final price from all sellers sorting it in ascending order. So, if you wanna really buy something you can opt for other sellers. But, in that case you have to deal with Customs on your own.

2. What is the Shipping Cost ?

Well, if a product is eligible for Amazon Global(which basically means Amazon has this item in their warehouse and can ship this item by themself) then you have a choice of Free Shipping for cart value above 125$ and for cart value below 125$ you can expect a shipping cost ranging from 3$ to 30$ depending on the item you have in your cart.

Here’s the link for Amazon Page :-
http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display....

3. What about Import duties/Customs ?

This is he best thing regarding Amazon Global. They charge an extra Import duty in shopping cart which makes it easier for us, receiving hassle free our product. This charge also depends on what is your item. But, this is most of the times less than what you will pay in India to customs.

Blasting info Guys

If the import duties paid by the courier guys are less than what you paid. You will be refunded the difference back to your bank account automatically which you used to order but this may take a month or so.
So, for products below 200 $ you can buy now at a much cheaper rate and even at the price of US by making the cart above 125$ and selecting free global shipping and then getting all the import fees back.

If its more than what you paid, you wont have to pay anything. Amazon will bear it.

4. What about Warranty on Products ?

Well I contacted Amazon after one dimer’s random complain and I got it sorted out. Every single bit of it. Here is the summary :-

1.Products which are listed under Amazon Global and if those are available in your country from the same manufacturer then the manufacturer can never reject the warranty. That means you will be getting International Warranty.

2.For products like you mentioned graphics card and those which are not supplied in our country, for those if any damage occurs you have to return it back to Amazon.
You will get it repaired or your full refund if its still under warranty.

3.And, about the shipping part. If the problem occurred from your side, mishandling the product then the shipping cost will not be refunded. But, if the product got stuck(stopped working) on its own then you will get your full refund on shipping cost in which case you have to send the scan of original bill you paid to courier guy.

I think after this, it should be clear that in no way you are stuck with any product until and unless you [Removed] that up yourself in which case no one is going to give you refund of your shipping cost.

If someone has any doubts feel free to pm me and I can send him the chat transcript I had with Amazon CC.

5. Mode of Payment ?

Here is the list of cards which can be used for payment (includes Debit and Credit)

Visa
Master Card
Discover Network
American Express
Diner’s Club (U.S. billing addresses only)
JCB
NYCE
STAR
Visa, MasterCard, or American Express pre-paid credit or gift cards
Amazon Store Card

6. Most Importantly – Why to buy from Amazon ?

Well its for some obvious reasons

1. Products are available at a much cheaper rate than India. Save Money.

2. Quality of the product is outstanding against what you will get in India.(This is applicable mostly for Shoes clothes and all)

3. Guarantee that the product will be shipped to you according to the plan you choose. Not like Snapdeal and others keeping you hanging around for no reason. If the courier company fails to deliver, you just file a complaint and another item will be on its way the next working day and with highest priority.

If anyone wants to add something in this, just comment and I will add.

To be true most of the products built for American market is far more better than built for ours/others https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_sad.gif
My personal experience is i bought a HP Laptop on Amazon at Dec 2009 still far it working good (I am typing in it.)
But my friends who bought dell in India giving lot of troubles after an year. Since Americans seems quality conscious companies for their reputation build brand there with quality where here we are treated with a different grade it seems from my point!
Purely my opinion buddies! https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_cool.gif

I too have one HP G60 from Us bought on Nov,2008 and its still as perfect as was then. I never had a single problem. In India, all my friend’s Dell have way back betrayed them and those who bought HP were also not spared. Except 2-3, maximum of them lost there screen, some motherboard and they always had problem. In Nov,2008 I remember HP started giving a Camera worth 5000 with every Laptop and many friends of mine that time just because of the camera. And, now they all regret it.

You can just take same Adidas shoe, one bought from India and one from US and you will be stunned by the difference in quality. Here, it seems they send all the rejected product to sell.

It is a fact.

Nokia did this with its mobiles. It supplied mobiles with high radiation emissions to countries like India since Govt hadn’t specified.
Coke and Pepsi change their formula in US after cancer reports. No change apparently in India http://www.telegraph.co.uk/foodanddrink/foodand...

Well I had a bad experience with electronics I had bought from Ebay Global Buy, although I think it was my fault.
The thing with electronics bought from US is that the chargers that are supplied with the electronic product are meant to work on 110V, but the electrical supply here in India is 220V. So the chargers don’t work. I bought a rechargeable Philips shaving razor from US through Global Buy, but never bothered to check the voltage thing. One week later I was stuck with my shaver without a proper charger. So guys, if you buy an electronic product from US make sure that you have a voltage down regulator. You can find one on ebay.:http://www.ebay.in/itm/Step-Down-Voltage-conver…
Just my two cent guys. Happy shopping!
Oh and btw, thanks for clearing many of my doubts stuggard1795813 regarding amazon. Really nice presentation. Voted up!

Can the cart have multiple products?
If it is, is this offer available only for limited period?
:P

Yes, tried it, but there are few tweaks for adding multiple products,
1. The seller should be the same
2. It should be Standard shipping

The seller should be same ? Product which only Amazon ships which are obviously under Amazon Global.

And, yes there is a weight limit also to this. I think 5 pounds. I will just let you know after confirming it.

Well I confirmed it and its 125$ and heres the link.

Blasting info Guys about Customs

If the import duties paid by the courier guys are less than what you paid. You will be refunded the difference back to your bank account automatically which you used to order but this may take a month or so.
So, for products below 200 $ you can buy now at a much cheaper rate and even at the price of US by making the cart above 125$ and selecting free global shipping and then getting all the import fees back.

If its more than what you paid, you wont have to pay anything. Amazon will bear it.

I think it will be between 56-57 and so you can calculate then. Exact percentage I dont know but maybe between 2-4%.
