now a days banks offer card protection plan,
that too on emi
kyaa jamaana aa gya hey – bank is so confident of frauds, that they have to offer such card protection plans to customer
instead of finding out loopholes and getting that fixed, they have got protection plans for customer, in which again customer (cust sey marr) have to pay charges

Banks offer CPP plans similar to insurance. Though cards now come with some amount of protection & even RBI mandates banks to protect customer interest by giving time limit to reporting of fraud transactions.
Still when one looses wallet, bag etc with cards it becomes painful. Though I myself have not tried this (as we always feel why to spend on insurance & all) but these days these services are handy.
One must use their prudence & need before opting in it.

Interesting story to share from back days (~10 years ago) .. My friend lost his Icici debit card , his card was used at POS and swiped for 6000 Rs . He filled a FIR , filled up some insurance form of the bank … after 2months he got the cheque of that amount .

Cool… Good news. Excellent service
Share my experience with kotak credit card ..
it was used somewhere in france without OTP .. for 40k. As soon as I got message of its usage I blocked the card
and informed bank about it. But still bank kept on pushing me to pay the bill. I disputed the transaction and but still bank kept on pushing
me to pay the bill. I denied . They send me the bill where it was used in France and asked me to pay it . It went on for 8 months.
But after 8 months they claimed from there insurance company and removed charges from my card.
So you take CPP or not , every bank has insurance for fraudulent transactions but claiming against them increases there premium
and hence they refuse to do that way.
Surprising to listen your case, bank itself claimed insurance instead of forcing you. U r lucky

They were forcing me all the way but I kept on pushing back . As per RBI guidelines , we haven’t shared OTP/visa password then we are
not responsible. You keep on pushing them and tell them that u will go in RBI ombudsmen and fight the case. they will come around and agree but yes it will be a long process. it tool me 8 months to settle.

better to use hdfc card. we can fix daily limit or transaction limit through net banking. And best part is – activation or deactivation can be done instantly through netbanking. Better to open limit as and when required. To avoid high value fraud, we can fix around 10-20K as limit.

As a HDFC card owner I am very happy. If I do an international transaction which is suspicious to them(less known website) or a POS never used before, they call me immediately to verify that it’s a valid transaction. I can additionally manage my card online. Though reaching CC is bit of a PITA.

Have you verified whether the transactions are settled in Cibil report? So, for all these 8 months they were adding interest in Credit card statement?

No idea. I saw another app(offline) but never tried.
Simple tips -
1. Block international transactions on your CC/DC. When you need to do any such transaction, only then you unblock it.
2. Set a maximum transaction limit.
Also a good thing to do is to write card details (not CVV and expiry date) on a plane paper along with the contact details of the customer care or the fraud management centre of the card issuer. Keep the paper in your home at all times. Best is to memorize the card no.

I written to my bank to block international transactions because never going anywhere in life. But Bank said there is no such thing.

Don’t ask bank. There will be an option for this in your account online. Check. Which credit card do you use?

I searched in Stan Chart but there was nothing. So I wrote to bank and they also denied same.

I think, other than HDFC no other bank provides such option.
axis bank provides domestic card
What can banks do … if someone willingly provide card number and OTP to the fraudsters ? Things are not that easy and simple as it seems .
