Dental Floss Recommendation?

Recommend some good floss please. Colgate, etc ones available at amazon have bad reviews. Where else can i get?
Few years ago, i had undergone root canal and need to undergo more root canal this year. so much cost in that procedure sad. Not to mention the unbearable pain that i underwent last time.
Thinking of starting flossing daily now.

Go for Colgate waxed floss , the floss strip inside is waxed which helps in maximum cleanness and less pain .

unless of-course DrN and Rockstar have intentionally asked for it or want it. in which case i take my views back, in so much as they concern to these to cases.
Thank you for your time.

i am oral surgeon , if i look into your case Common causes of attrition include tooth grinding (bruxism) and inappropriate alignment of the teeth (like gears that don’t mesh properly), a condition known as malocclusion.

have you ever visited to Orthodontic or are your teeth malaligned ? these are common reason for attrition .

Nah, could never get @admin to respond to/address the trailing whitespace issue with some usernames like Mr_N. But @baadshah was somehow able to get the issue about multiple users with the same username resolved for his account.

o wow https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif that is great
sometime in March or Feb perhaps I saw this on TV and later that evening reached out to my cousin (Periodontist, Dental Implantologist) who is a MDS in Perio to check if he can do or does do something so cool !

@Rockstar wrote: ..a condition known as malocclusion…

yes sir i do have both malocclusion and a slight overjet in some way. I did write about it http://www.desidime.com/forums/dost-and-dimes/t... although it was tangential, but only wiped/replaced it after seeing you are already here and better equipped to speak on all those details.

you may read about my condition https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_sad.gif ; if you want to, by visiting → archive.is/Ci2Bg [the part where i speak of the malocclusion in some of my teeth is to the extent of class II severe.]

@Rockstar wrote: have you ever visited to Orthodontic or are your teeth malaligned ? these are common reason for attrition .

yes sir i have visited. yes Sir they are malaligned and the cup like attrition in the molars was also attributed to my relentless ‘chewing’ of even things like guava seeds (those were my teen/pre-teen years) and i shied away from braces which were suggested to fix overlapping teeth and overjet, mainly because i did not think it worthwhile to let-go of 2 or 3 of my teeth (otherwise in good health). The doc. insisted that the spacing was not possible unless space was created !

anyway,

thank you so much once again @Rockstar for being helpful to all, the OP. [any views on how Oral-B (threads) or brands like YOUinfloss fare in floss department ?]

@Spock You seem really interested to dig out the best floss available in India. https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_toungueout.gif

Well, I haven’t tried all the brands. But IMO Colgate’s floss is good, cheap, and the most widely available in India (heck, you can even buy it from Amazon — that’s where my last stock came from).

Anyway, I don’t know if you know/do this already, but rinsing your mouth with water after having any kind of food and drink does magic for dental care. I am a regular coffee drinker so, wherever possible, I like to rinse my mouth with warm water immediately after finishing my coffee. Not only has this helped with my dental health, but I also get compliments from my dentist for maintaining cleaner teeth for longer when I do visit him for scaling and polishing. CC @dragonball

@DealSeeker haha https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif nothing like that. just getting a general idea.

i already have enough acquaintances as also good friendly relations with pass-outs, students and senior HoD’s at http://www.google.com/search?q=terna+dental+ho.... and college and even otherwise do keep myself aware.
Had first enquired a dentist about floss, how to etcetera, back in 1999-2000, in Pune. the look and the surprise on her face was something that made me feel embarrassed. (it was that she had not expected me to know of or be using floss)

you know me, digging in general is habitual of me ! (for good or for .. not so good)

i DO know of and follow the rinse or gargle routine often. [nothing to do with modern dentistry, in general the dadima ke nuskhe , old worldy > kulla and gara’rey with lukewarm water and salt at times. (thanks to my guards my tonsils having been removed when i was 9-10.)]

in general i do try to maintain good oral health, but am not as meticulous as to get a pat on the back by them docs https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_toungueout.gif
incidentally i have never been much of a fan of any dentist apart from Dr. Alban, and for him too; ’twas his mujik.

my cousin and few other good docs yeah, they are respectable professionals.
but even they can not make me buy into the whitening or polishing routine on a regular way.
I just somehow make do with that ultrasound cleaning thing sometimes.

thanks for bringing that ‘coffee can stain even enamel coated teeth’ point into the picture.
Thankfully my gums too are in good health so i am not so concerned. [for fun sake i sometimes use baking-soda and finely ground Halite (sendha namak) to massage over the gums and teeth]

my worse problem remains my lack of tonsils. even at home, even self prepared meals with say Amul butter toasts can and do cause my throat to act up due to.. i dont know what. the greasy contents or the processed nature

aiyo ! arey wahh.. you are on-line https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

edit: ahh just saw the rajnigandha and tulsi picture you added later now. while it is nice art to recycle such waste and save things from going into landfills, it is so despicable that people consume such things and our governments and glamour world support them https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_sad.gif . some of these businesses have so apparent and clear criminal nexuses.. but lets not talk about it till we are in Goa.
