First Desidime has problem with using hindi font in Hot deals section . We agreed
But now dd Has also problem with using hindi language in English font in DD that why create new rule that we have to give translation of that in english

Desidime ab purana vala Desidime nhi rha voh bhot bada ho gya hai https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_sad.gif

I think we are living in India not Anerica that we have to translation in english what we write https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_sad.gif

I respect your views, let’s assume @DimerAbhi grows up physically/mentally some day and he reaches an age where he goes for an interview. Considering the fact speaking English is mandatory, let’s set him up from now so what say?
Let him start learning, please don’t underestimate his English speaking/writing capabilities. You need to bring out the hidden talent from him https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

Arree waah!! So that compulsory English rule has been implemented to help @DimerAbhi clear his interviews

Lol

Wat if I say that I am not good in Hindi nor am I good in English, I can only understand Bengali ?
Will there be a rule that everything on dd must be converted to Bengali to facilitate non-hindi and non-English speaking people!!

I agree that practically english matters more. What i mean by admins would hv first thought is that they could hv organised a poll or a discussion or anything like that. Now this way it is not going to end in a good way. If a poll or something like that would hv happened, everyone would hv been satisfied (hope so) coz it would hv been done in a legitimate manner and would hv been a more democratic approach.

I never asked why. I pointed out the fact. A few eCommerce sites are making Hindi or other regional language versions available to perhaps tap the new customers in rural locations.

However, such translations can’t be made available on a user-contributed site like DD. People who are so bad in English that they don’t even understand written English will always find it tough to use the Internet or tough to live their lives in today’s digital age. And tools like Google Translate are available for such people.

Even in the Indian Parliament a member is allowed to use both languages(English and Hindi) as per one’s discretion, and the best part is that a person speaking Hindi doesn’t have to translate it into English or vice-versa

I don’t care about Google’s ranking policies as far as language is concerned. I just know from a practicality point of view that English has been chosen as the international language of choice. Having lived, visited, and worked in a few countries, I know that a common language is very desirable and English is a good choice, for reasons that are out of the scope of this discussion.

Jokes apart @ishandon & @DimerAbhi But if you both already know English, why dont you use English in Hot Deals Section. They have refrained Hindi usage in a particular section. So, please avoid it. Post as much as you can in Dost & Dimes, more guys will join in. Why create unnecessary fuss over this matter again & again. Admins also understand Hindi better than we all do but there has to be some sacrifices somewhere. Please co-operate them. Incorporate changes within you as well. I am sure you will learn newer words everyday. So start today and surprise you friends and relatives with a better vocab. @DimerAbhi respect your opinion but a discussion of this nature will only create chaos. Maybe a dimer with more than 100 posts is allowed to vote or something like that would be a good idea. Just my opinion though.
BTW I another idea for u why don’t you use swalekh app. It is an app which creates hindi contact to english. I mean if u type hindi in english fonts it will automatically translate it to english. This way u don’t need to use google translator either.

I did read your entire post carefully. But your post lacked clarity about what you are actually trying to say. It contained statements for and against using Hindi and the closing statement was really ambiguous in terms of what you are expecting from the admins. Please clarify what you are asking for.

Though i m in favour of the new rule but admins would have first thought about users like @DimerAbhi and many others who are not very well versed in english.

@DealSeeker i agree the last paragraph did lack some clarity. So i m making it clear:

As @DimerAbhi is of the opinion that poll creates fake votes. I suggested this:

Hope i m able to clarify. I would prefer the option of using swalekh app coz having used it i think it is the best app coz it offers typing sentences in hindi, only english, hindi in english fonts to english words.
Edit : My bad, it doesn’t convert hindi to english, it converts english to hindi. Sorry

As well now it will become obligatory for DD staff to change the site name .

The word desi comes from Sanskrit language which is clearly not English .
