You know the owner’s name?
Yes. Got it off My Airtel app. Actually all these years I was under the impression that it was registered in my name since I had submitted my documents to that effect.

You can get a 4G SIM directly from Airtel by placing a request with their customer care. You will be charged nothing. But it will take anywhere from 3 days to one week for it to reach you by some courier service. Alternatively, just go to the nearest Airtel franchisee store. They will ask for owner details just as a verification procedure. Will take service charges around 50 bucks. You will get the SIM the very instant.
EDIT: In whose name is it registered then?

Some random guy. Name and address will suffice? Date of birth is not shown in Airtel website or app. Need to swap SIM as its possibly starting to act up.

OMG! Then someone else is using the number registered in your name!
These retailers are bloody Removed
Yes, name alone will suffice. Just tell them the address if they ask for it. Local stores are interested only in their commission. Don’t worry much.

Maybe the other guy who submitted documents might be using the sim through OPs docs? Interchanged documents?

Which 50 rs you are talking about
I got my old sim swapped with a 4G one at a airtel store.
The girl at the store just asked me to send an sms from my old SIM and gave my the new SIM which got activated after an hour.
No documents were required and she didn’t ask for any money.

That’s how it’s supposed to happen. But the franchisees in my city do charge some amount for the service (enquired at three different stores). May be Airtel direct stores stick to the rule of zero charges.
