Pixel isn’t a Nexus device .Not by any means a device which resembles anything which Nexus stood for .If I can help u go back in time , Nexus line was created as a developers device baring the Nexus Q which wasn’t a mobile / tablet but their media player/streamer which dint last long . Nexus was meant to be a platform for developers to create apps and develop for Android platform as during the start of the Nexus lineup there were not as many apps as u can see in the Play store today . Nexus similar with one plus are devices which I am against regular consumers owning . It’s a niche , it’s for a category of super users , it’s for people who really love to tinker their phones to the core , to do stuff which u can’t really tinker . Though the Nexus 4 and especially Nexus 5 were marketed at crazy price points which made people including me get into the Nexus bandwagon .

The Pixel defers completely in the ideology . While u could see the change in shift with the Nexus 5x and 6p with their accidental protection policies , starting from Nexus 6 a few features which were made Nexus specific and stuff but again they were minimal on their marketing compared to other OEMs and still maintained a fairly good idea of base development devices ( Remeber the Nexus 6 being a huge 6 inch device cause they wanted apps optimized for tablets and large screen devices in general ) . Nexus 6p and 5x were like the perfect platform for the pixel . They were improving areas which they dint ever care about improving in the last six iterations ie the camera .The 6p and even the 5x were ironing out the flaws which they had with previous generations . And now the PIXEL . It’s a phone for the masses and surely u will see a good amount of advertising and brand creation for the same . They are meant to be the perfect phone for the consumers to use . Many cool features which will be restricted to Pixel Phones .24 hour support and accidental policy and what not . These phones are not Nexus , not development devices but devices which Google wants every guy with heafty wallets to pay for .They get the most premium services at a good price . No surprises they had the Verizon bootloader locked ( though obviously they will get an unlock hack anyway through indie rom devs ) .

For the pixel – iPhone comparison I must say it’s quite early to say anything . Google isn’t new to this market that it doesn’t know what he is going . It’s a bold move and a one which can make or break the Pixel brand altogether .iPhone is used because it justs works as intended almost Everytime . There’s a superb build quality and no compromise in anything . Google’s Android hasn’t been the most stable of devices multiple factors being the reason behind it .But if they want to make Pixel a success there’s a need that there are no freezes , crashes or bugs which Android users know very well .They will have to create an experience which they haven’t even delivered on their Nexus lineup . This is achievable but must be taking a lot of efforts on Google’s part . They would surely have a huge team testing pixel for every bug , ironing it out before public release , testing each and every line of code works just right before releasing it to the mass consumers .

If Google can deliver something close to this it can be a success and maybe cause some kind of unrest within the iPhone camp and who knows what the future beholds .

Wait for a few months clarity on Google’s and more importantly Pixel would become clear .
