In short.. as you can see, there is no spindle motor and no head access arm in SSD, so no mechanical movement, so less data access time in SSD. Copy/write speed of SSD is about 200 to 500 MB/s whereas it is just 50 to 120 MB/s for hdd..
SSDs are about 7 to 8 times more expensive per unit of storage than HDDs
