plenty of desktop apps on Google. be very much cautious while deleting images as names can be repeated in case of digicam/DSLR. DSC00017 can be found multiple times but different image

My invention https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

Try it for Smaller folder first as drives will take time.

Process will take time but will be 100% full proof

1. Open Command prompt
2. Go to the directory in which you feel will be duplicates. For eg I go to D Drive by command d:
3. Type dir /s /b > Target.xls (At this stage as data will be huge it is likely to take time. So bare with it and have a coffee in mean time)
4. Open Target.xls and paste below formula in cell B1 (Hoping that file names are starting with A1) – Drag cell B1 till the end of Columns A

5. Select column B
6. Go to Home—>Conditional Formatting—>New Rule—> Format only Unique or Duplicate Values
7. Choose Duplicate/Unique in drop down and choose the format you would like to highlight with

This way you will be able to track where exactly your file is in Columns A & File Name Column B

Enjoy

I still use double killer.

Based on file size is most easy way..most of the times.

Yes DK is the best freeware for this purpose, but UI is not user friendly.
File size criteria can be deceptive in rare cases n also may leave behind duplicates sometimes.
Of course with familiarity of file contents you can easily make out which is duplicate even looking at size.
