How to stream media from PC to phone/tab

Hi Friends,

Since i have been able to stream all movies on my pc to tab/phone, i dont feel the need to use micro sd cards anymore to store movies.

Physical Requirements: Windows PC, Wireless Router( Phone/Tab and pc must be connected to same wireless hub).

Android

1. Free Option- Gmote 2.0 – Download Gmote 2.0 from PlayStore and Gmote server from following link.Configure the server to select which folders on your pc to check for media hosting. Run Gmote app on your phone and watch movies. One annoying thing about using Gmote is u cant skip to a particular part of the movie. I have emailed them about this bug and they haven’t responded yet. Hence i use the following option.

2. Paid option(Doesn’t have to be paid if u have torrenting skills) -

Download media house upnp pro app from playstore .
Download Twonky media server .

Select folders to host in twonky media server . Enjoy!

The only limitation i have found is 1080p streaming is very choppy and not recommended. 720p in software decoding mode in mxplayer works brilliant

Ipad

Download AirVideo(Paid App,free version is crap) and download airvideo server for windows. Follow same routine as earlier.

The advantage of ipad is 1080p playback is perfect, no lags ,no stuttering. Also, due to this streaming facility, u dont need to pay 5k extra for another 16 gb of storage in ipad. 16 gb is quite enough.

Another Great Alternative

On android, this thing has frustrated me ,but on ios it works perfect.

Purchase D-Link DIR 505- Connect Hard Drive in USB Slot. Use it in wifi hotspot mode. Download shareport app for ios. Stream Movies

On android, unfortunately , the movie playback stops after a while. Other people have also reported the same issue.
