Here’s one of the test result from Net Velocity App https://twitter.com/SunnyAneja24/status/7855253...

Yes band is 850But today I travelled around 55km in Mumbai , but every wherewhere band was same and speed also.
One more thing, whenever I do speed test using NET VELOCITY app, then for 30 sec speed is increasing but after that same old story.
850 MHz band has the lowest speeds. You see, the available bandwidth varies with the band you are connected to. Band 40 (2300 MHz) provides the best available bandwidth (20 Mbps+). But your phone automatically switches to Band 5 (850 MHz) or Band 3 (1800 MHz) when the Band 40 signal is weak because you are indoors or because you are moving.Read the following article for details and Google for information on how you may force your phone to connect to Band 40 (if possible for your location and phone model): http://compixels.com/19799/reliance-jio-4g-lte-...
As I have mentioned in my earlier posts, you really need to spend 15-20 minutes once to find the best location for the Band 40 signal in your home if you care about getting the best speeds.
When my Lyf phone (used as a hotspot) was connecting to Band 3, I never got above 10 Mbps. When it connected to Band 40 after a little placement-optimization, I started getting 15-20 Mbps. Finally, when I went all out and used apps like NetVelocity and OpenSignal to really find the best location AND the best orientation for my phone, I started getting around 40 Mbps. Even now, after all the millions of users that Jio has added in the last month, I still get 30 Mbps during off-peak hours.
Thanks techie(seems ur master in technology)
In my house, every where I am getting same speed(tried multiple times net velocity app).
Will wait for 10-15 days….if same continues then I will remove Jio from mobile(as airtel’s 2g faster than JIO ).
Thanks again

NetVelocity is showing the signal strength as 0 dBm! That alone explains everything. Seems like there is some serious issue with the Jio tower in your area. Have you tested the signal/speed outside of your neighborhood?

Thanks, but those articles are still mentioning speeds in 8-10 Mbps. And I agree about ~20% reduction of the speeds since the launch on Sep 5. However, the OP and @GoogleCA are talking about speeds in Kbps. Totally different cases.

The counter doesn’t reset at 12 midnight

You like to keep the other person guessing for the full information, eh?
@Manish Taneja The data counter-reset time is different for each SIM. To know what time your data counter resets, just login to http://www.J...om and check exactly what time the “Jio Welcome Offer” was activated for your connection under “recharge history”. This would be your data-reset time everyday.

Yes, everywhere same issue.
Different info needed – What happens after 31 Dec ? Will we be automatically shifted to some plan?
Will I be able to disconnect post that without any charges ? – Asking this because its reliance and they never give anything for free.
I know this info will be there in some of the thread but Jio has so many threads – could not find it

It’s a prepaid connection, bro. So don’t worry about them pulling any BS. Until you add some money, they won’t be able to deduct the balance.

Such a stupid question in that case.
Thanks. KG.
Time to use the preview offer then.

Download and install the specific version I linked in the following post: https://www.desidime.com/forums/dost-and-dimes/t...
Open the app and click on More > Settings. Enable “Advanced Mode”. Then you will see the Band frequency as well as a lot more finer details about the signal.

Thanks..its shows 1800 (means band 5 ??)
The band remains same in every area of the house
The speeds have never gone above 1 MB (Megabyte) per second for me
Anything which can be done or I should be content with this

Yes, 8 Mbps (i.e. 1 MBps) is almost the ceiling for Band 3 (1800 Mhz).
Go to your terrace or roof of the house/building to see if you are able to get 2300 MHz from the tower. If you get 2300 MHz in an open area of your house/building, then you can try keeping the phone/hotspot on a window sill to see if your phone can catch 2300 MHz.
Do try the other app Open Signal (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=c...) to figure out where the Jio towers in your area are. Then you can choose the appropriate window.
@DealSeeker Net Velocity App is not even showing the bands after doing the above-mentioned steps. Is this due to Snapdragon SoC or Jio Networks? Just Asking

You are using version 3.2.1 which I linked, right? Because the band information is not available in some versions of the NetVelocity app.

The 3.2.1 version is forcing to update the app to a newer version and then the details along with band info are clearly visible. Don’t install directly from Jio playstore, that’s the one where band info isn’t available. @GoogleCA Install this one as posted by DealSeeker bro then it’ll automatically update to the latest one which have band info details: https://jioappstore.jio.ril.com/cms/uploads/and...

Oh, yes. I forgot that even I was forced to auto-update some time in September. I just checked and I am running v.3.2.6 presently. Both the versions display/displayed the band frequency.
Here is a direct link to v.3.2.6 so people don’t have to go through the auto-update: https://jioappstore.jio.ril.com/cms/uploads/and... CC @GoogleCA ↓

By the way, I am getting around 40 Mbps with Airtel 4G inside my house without doing any location-optimization for the signal.

But I have done the smartest thing.
I have shifted my office to a building with Jio towers on rooftop!
