how much it cost you?

No I didn’t bother getting it repaired as she was in no mood to use the old lappy again. She bought a new lappy.

k thanks..
remove the battery and reinsert and try
@nilvp1 This sounds to me like a power supply issue. Try borrowing a similarly rated power adapter from a friend/family member to test if it’s the power adapter. Also, a cap on the motherboard might have gotten burned as well so getting it replaced should fix the problem (shouldn’t cost more than 1K).
Also, as a first step, do try what @dealmate has suggested about removing the battery. Try to power on the laptop directly with the power adapter after removing the battery.
It may be software and hardware first try it via software then go for hardware
Even if you can’t boot into Windows, you might be able to get into safe mode. Press F8 as your laptop is starting up and you’ll get a menu offering to boot into Safe Mode.If you can enter safe mode, you might be able to undo any changes that caused your laptop or PC to stop booting. You could try uninstalling any new programs that you recently installed, uninstall a driver that was recently updated…, .This method laptop auto restart after 1 hour…..
The laptop boots into Windows ans works for a while, but after that it shuts down by itself without any reason or warning. You restart the laptop but the same problem appears again
Most likely it’s a heat related issue . Listen for the cooling fan, make sure it works.
Also this problem might appear because of a faulty memory module, try some tips from the situation 2.
The laptop still boots ans you still can see the screen, so you can run the memory test. I usually use Memtest86+. Run the memory test and if it fails, replace the faulty module.

@sayinjai94 Seems like you missed the following comment from the OP: “…when i press power button display and button light blinks for less than 1 seconds. no sound no noise.”
This makes it amply clear that the problem is not related to software or overheating.

Yes bro.. there is hardware problem. And seems related to power supply. I have ordered thermal paste. Will replace old one. And according to you will try another charger and further go for capacitor change.. before this also there was problem with my power adapter and battery.
Which version of Windows ur using? It may be bios issue or cmos battery needs replacement. Take out battery and power adaptor… and press power button 10-15 times so that its backup power if any remaining gets discharged. Then insert power cord and try restarting. This will reset BIOS to default configuration and lappy may restart.
.
This may also be fan getting clogged with dust. Search google for videos for opening ur lappy and cleaning it. This may require replacement of heatsink paste costing Rs50-100 which needs to be purchased. Hope this helps.
I will also suggest updating your bios if you haven’t updated it in 7 years.

My 3 yr old campaq lappy had same issue 6-7 months back. First i thought that it was due to upgradation to win10 ’cos i read somewhere that win 10 updates bios and which was causing computers to become unresponsive.
I thought my lappy had died and left it for 10-15days removing battery. After some days of pondering over google, I tried starting it without inserting battery. It showed signs of revival and had set BIOS to default. I immediate reverted back to win 8 and my lappy is alive since. It turned out to be cmos battery was dead and I purchased it from chorclues. Now I am back to win10 and my lappy is running smooth.

Tag me if your problem gets resolved. It’s a motherboard issue. Had a similar issue of laptop not booting(blinking LEDs) gave it for repair, the service centre guy kept it for a week to fix it but couldn’t.
Currently I am having the same problem as you the power button just glows for a sec and then off.
@ranjithsai01 Which one did you buy fir your sister? Rather suggest me a VFM laptop within 20-25k

I bought it from local shop nearby. The shopkeeper showed me one injection kind and another in small box which was slightly cheaper. Being a dimer, I opted cheaper one and it worked fine. Think there is no major difference except after some time all tend to dry up.
@vijkap201 thanks for quick reply , I guess I’ll order one from ebay than.

Using Arctic brand…Gold little expensive but makes 2-3C difference not much, others from Coolmaster etc are equally good.
tried local ones which were available in market, looked like is messed up something else now since even display is not showing anything
I think I need to visit some shop now.

just check display connection, again, is display is visible? that means without led (backlit)
I checked, the cables that are going to LED are just besides the fan. I think I damaged one of those while pulling out the fan . It was a working laptop with having frequent shut down problem due to heat so I am not suspecting anything else.
Btw one another note, do you have any idea how much I can get for a sony laptop on olx/quicker, it is a 320/3/512 nvidia one.
Your motherboard is fried most probably. Time to buy a new one during the diwali sales. Similar things happened to my sister’s dell lappy and I tried changing the ram and hard disk but to no avail.
