for my need ?

Most normal routers have a wifi bridge mode or repeater mode. Tell me your budget for it. I am using tp link wr-720n as a repeater.

You need to buy something costly which can cover both the floors or 2 separate routers. My first router is in 1st floor so it doesn’t cover corner rooms in ground floor. I have placed the second router in middle of the house above fridge.

my tplink 720n ftom old house gave very poor range in my new house. So spent on router with repeater function as well as a very compact repeater from aliexpress. BUT they were all unreliable. The link between the router and repeater breaks and doesn’t reconnect. The onky solution was to put a lan cable across them which a good option for you.
the wiring didn’t permit to put a lan cable so bought the 820n. 1 powerful router and I am sorted. with good signal strength across all rooms.

Connection doesn’t break for me but I don’t get Internet access on the second router sometimes. I have to connect to first router and then reconnect to second one to get Internet access.

Better buy same brand router or repeater to avoid little disruption. .

Xiaomi routers were best with its repeater ..convenient to set up and use …
If u can wait around a month , buy xiaomi router from aliexpress or gearbest..
I have tp link plug and play repeater but having little problems and not using it currently .

Once checkout this..
http://m.gearbest.com/wireless-routers/pp_34639... rs)
It has 4 antennas. . U get very good signal .. and also it has usb port(connect pendrive or hdd) and easily controllable from app like who is connected to wifi even when u not at home and limit access to them ..downloads from app..even torrenrs ..u can add download from outside too and in home mi router does its work …
