I hope you don’t need tatkal any day coz that day you will regret taking local connection and lose the ticket of course.

103.243.54.2 would be your IP address.

Edit- If you want to check by yourself just type “what is my IP” in google search

absolutely correct , today mrng my friend came to book tatkal tickets and i was getting error – Only two tatkal tickets can be booked from this IP address roll

then i found on net that local broadband gives us dynamic IP , this IP was assigned to someone else earlier ,,, but the boy told me that ur IP is static sad … how can this be possible .. if its static then my IP must be fresh ..
so in this case Dial-Up like 3g is much better . atleast we get different IP everytime we reconnect still we dont get error like Only two tatkal tickets can be booked from this IP address surprised

103.243.54.2 is the address the entire world identifies you with. 192.168.X.X is your Lan address (your router identifies various devices connected to it by changing the last digit). 100.100.X.X is the Wan address assigned by your service provider (the service provider assigns to identify their customers)

All the customers of your service provider are using the same IP address (103.243.54.2) to connect to WWW and hence someone already might have booked the tickets. If the service provider wants to identify you they use the wan address (100.100.X.X). They do it because they lease the bandwidth from a bigger service provider and would get static IPs. This is shared among all their customers (just like your router shares your bandwidth with all the devices connected to it) through WAN. Hope this clears your doubts.

Yes you would always face this problem even for your online purchases. Restarting your router doesn’t provide you with a new IP address in this architecture, so you should avoid making multiple account purchases/recharges using this service provider.

103.243.54.2 – Main IP though which the service provider connects to the web. This is the IP that appears to the other sites. All customers will have the same external IP.
199.199.199.1 – The WAN server IP through which your local sub-agent connects you to the main server of the service provider.
192.168.0.10 – the local IP of your machine.

PS – I am not an expert. But we use a similar architecture for our office, where all branches of India are part of the same VPN

How cheap does it cost to you per month coz I pay Airtel 488 per month for 17 GB 2 MBPS and 512 kbps UL and unlimited landline usages in Delhi?

well my friend, it looks like the biggies haven’t answered yet, and since i can’t be all detailed, i will try to be simple.

static ip’s are in past now, every company provides dynamic IP now-a-days.
The local ip of the system u see in network properties and tp-link dashboard are of no concern.
The one that u see on internet by checking ur ip is the main one.

For the ticket booking case, it might be the one bad time u got a local and tatkal used ip, else this doesn’t happen like this to anyone (afaik).

also, it might be that ur ISP be the culprit here as he might be giving his local routing to u and few other users.
U can check ur local network and see that if any other systems are with u in the same network.
hope this helps, smile

@hackerboys First of all, I think you are asking about your public IP address (i.e. internet IP) so let me answer that first. Your public IP is 103.243.54.2 as shown to you on one of those “whatismyip…” websites.

Now let me try to give you a little deeper understanding of the situation. There are three IP addresses (visible to you, but there could be more behind the scenes) because:

(1) 192.168.0.10 is the IP of your computer for the network between your wireless router and your PC (i.e. your private IP).
(2) 199.199.199.1 is the IP of the wireless router for the network between your internet service provider and the wireless router.
(3) 103.243.54.2 is the IP of your service provider’s internet exit node (i.e. your public IP). Do note that this could change on your next session depending on how many exit nodes are being used by your ISP and whether your ISP provides dynamic IPs or a static IP.

Note: Your ISP might be having multiple networks in between before your data traffic hits the exit node but these IPs are not immediately visible to you. For a better understanding of the network hops, see this article about traceroute: http://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/website/...

By the way, @panchabhut did already provide a good response. http://www.desidime.com/forums/dost-and-dimes/t...

i am not sure about the ip not changing thing as even a milli sec disconnection can change the ip,

many ISP’s provide static ip’s, but they are very-costly, so it’s kind of not worth to the majority of people, and most of the time we don’t do some too secure thing which requires us to have static ip’s, ( most of those secure things will most probably have our mac id as well in combination with our ip )

Three Ips.
One is local ip of your computer, through which your computer is recognized.
One is the ip given by the provider to you. Also known as framed ip. Through this they recognize you on their sever.
Then comes the ip of the isp. This what is visible to the whole world. If its shared you probably are having same ips as many of the other users. But that is old ways. Now a days you get your own ip. I hope your provider is a good one.

Most local service providers still do it through shared IP as they would have subleased the bandwidth from someone else. By doing this they can keep their costs low. I have seen such local ISPs providing shared storage for their customers to share movies, songs and “other” content.

Static IPs are provided by big service providers for a monthly fee which ranges from 100-250. OP’s case is different and his service provider is a local cable network guy probably, who provides service through shared IP. It’s a simple architecture to save on costs.

Next time use your mobile network if you want to book train tickets. You get new ip everytime on mobile network. But you can still be tracked by police through your ip.

Based on the info you have provided so far, in all likelihood, the same external IP is shared among multiple users. You can’t force your ISP to give you a dynamic IP every time you start a session if they are using a single IP (i.e. a single exit node) for multiple/all users. The simple workaround is to use a VPN proxy when you need a different IP.

Extra payment will be taken for Static IP by most of the service providers.

For tatkal ticket booking, use 3G from your phone (if you have good network at your place)
