OP did not say to us but his brother told me and spock. We immediately mentioned this to some senior members and that’s why we did not collect funds earlier. However through one of my friend in TCS, I heard nobody was told about this. Anyways as someone said earlier the poor’s get help now a days but not middle class. Instead of pointing others let’s shake our colore with pride that we stood with humanity to help someone. Last but not the least as one DD family.

Guys i want to step in here.

I request all to stop misjudging the intentions of Op. It was pure mother love and sentiments made him bit carried away initially in putting the facts before us missing out the important additional help he(his brother) had on finance(insurance). Might not have expected such a response from this family

I did speak to him and he was just an humble guy who is concerned about his moms health and told me that he and his brother are ready to do anything and stay any number of days required in caring for her.

I want to clear something here. I never spoke about his family/status/brother nor on the donations.

Like @Magus mentioned step by step anyone can get clear idea as how we got latest updates from time to time.

DD ( @anthrax.ut bro ) came forward to help as soon as we alerted him without waiting for the clarity on the proceedings he opened up a thread for dimes redemption so that if need is stuck with time constraint then we may be late in doing so. He never for once thought about how he can arrange funds or how he can justify this act of kindness in his system. My full respect to him for allowing this platform for such a gesture.

My thanks to all the people involved in this entire process for their time, care and donations extended for OP and his mother. TOTAL RESPECT!!!

Dimes are earned by each individual for their time and Contribution in DD which is so special for few feeling proud when dime to dime gets added in their account.

Monetary donations are individual choice and capacity which everyone came forward to help for this noble cause. @Beinghuman was kind to come forward to collect through wallets and various modes

Seeing recent updates admins came upto some decision like to help in parts as per need as he is the authority and will be held accountable / responsible that happens in DD and with dimers.

Lets not de-morale the brothers with our words. Its tough time they are in now and seeing mother in such stage literally drains u out emotionally

Everyone are still free to take their own decisions and can come forward by contacting @heart_attacker and reaching out for him in their own way.

One has to also consider it is sounding easy but one can relate best who went through such a situation how tough it is.
Sons may or may not get help sooner or later. But there is NOW and also NEED in between where we can contribute. Just think

Yeah bro let’s leave the bad and talk about the good. Because during this OP difficult situation talking about the OP will really hurt him. 1. heart_attacker seems to be a guy who is not able to understand the situation and also how to help his elder brother financially, so he posted on forums to see if he gets some financial help so he can be a helping hand to his brother. From him I understood he got a job recently
2. His elder brother is working with TCS from ~6 years {worklocation and his residence both are near to me}, so I spoke to him as he is a better guy to judge the situation and tell what exactly he/they are looking out for
3. As working in MNC we/he has medical insurance coverage, so when I asked about that he said they paid Rs. 50,000 in advance and the treatment till date is covered under cashless hospitilzation (hope you guys know what that means) upto 8Lakhs. He don’t know how much amount the final bill will shoot upto so he is also worried.
4. Elder brother seems to have got married Jan 25 2015, so he seems to be having budget constraints about taking a loan etc.,

My view

Case is genuine, if we don’t care about their financial status (if they can afford or not) then its a GO for us to help instead of wasting time arguing here.

2. I also asked his elder brother, if the total bill is some where around ~10-12 then 8L (Free Cashless hosptilization)+YourMoney should be enough to take care of the expenses
3. In case if the total bill amount is less, than I said him whatever the money you get from DesiDime please transfer it back to some charity or NGO (as per @anthrax.ut) after the full and final settlement to hosptial
4. For few questions like why they joined mother in Yashoda (Because yashoda hospital is too costly in hyderabad)— When she was down the nearest hosptial is it, so they rushed her there.
5. Why heart_attacker selling uber rides and talking about freecharge when mother is in ICU – I too don’t know the answer for this, but when I asked him the same he is also blank so its probably a situation where he couldn’t understand what to do in hospital in his idle time.
6. 13L letter as earlier shown is estimated charge for hosptilization for 30days, the final bill may be high or less than that. Its an estimated cost sheet.

Any questions please let me know, I will try to see if I have answers.

P.S – Please excuse any grammatical errors, I am just typing in a hurry as I need to rush to office.

Few points:

• DD is certainly a big family and I am proud being a part of such a community.

• Biggest initiative of DD admins starting the dimes redemption …… later stopping it for a bigger cause is justified looking from a communities perspective.

• I don’t think OP tried to hide anything … it happens when you are in such a situation. So many comments about OP hiding things when we know his situation is genuine …. Too Bad.

• Cashless Treatments have many hidden clauses and it doesn’t take care of all the expenses.

• Just being in TCS for 6 years doesn’t mean that the family is financially strong.

• Not even a single Alert sent for such a cause — Too Bad (or may be my selection of subscription is )

• Last – 11K collected though a community of so called 2Lakhs (i read somewhere, if wrong my mistake) contributes to not even Rs. 0.10/- per member.

Can I please request admins or other senior members to please post the Bank Details out here…. so that if still someone wants to help he/she can contribute.

Yes, but to the most. Remaining should be manageable unless and until you are a real poor guy. Things like disposables (bandages) etc are charged. I have used this 4 times so far, so well aware of things.

And I would appreciate someone who knows clear details on how things go in an office esp TCS comment here.
He can definitely take loans. Even if he is out of his limit, no information of below options being explored:

1. TCS has an emergency fund of 1cr for all employees. A letter to Mumbai corporate office with all documents, will get you some assistance
2. TCS HR does entertain such help requests and sends an email to all. Whoever can help, will pitchin. Software employees mostly draw good salaries and small amounts from a such big community will definitely make it real big. This is not hypothetical. This is a certainity. I spoke to my friend in TCS again and got to know that he himself contributed around 500s about 6-7 times so far and the total amount collected for each of those is in lakhs.
   #For extended medical need, the insurance has a higher limit. In my friend case, who also works in TCS, says its 15 lakhs (but not entirely cashless).

My only concern here is, this should be the last option for them after they have tried everywhere else. And I personally help someone who is in real need. In this case, if OPs family can take care of themselves, i would rather have someone from our community (or myself) go to a nearby govt hospital and then spend this on the patients directly.

My take is, we can continue to pool in the contributions (even I will join…. around 1000/- from my side). But someone (admin) should hold this and release it only after getting clear picture of the final bill and the real need of the OPs family. If we feel that they can take care of themselves, then we can use it for a bigger cause.

And finally, everyone cares here about OPs mother. We definitely want her to get fully cured, smile, rejoice, spend time with her family and may be her grand child soon and probably pose for a smile in a photo for DD. After all, we all are humans. I do care for the fellow human being and more so for a mother…..my love and respect for her

OP & his brother – All is Well and all will be well. Just take steps with conscious thinking. There are ways and world is bigger and your mom is important to you and to us. Dont simply go by what is being disucssed here. just see it from a neutral perspective, if you can take something from this for something better, do it…. otherwise its not worth to let these things impact u….you should continue your mission with strength, love and care.

We have collected 11k in less than 4 hours, Then we stopped it !

I got atleast 30-40 messages to aacept Donation even after we stopped it, Many were already a donor !

Some were even trying to donate from outer world of DD ( I got 2 donations from Out of DD also ) !

Unless untill you read my last few posts you will not understand how eager were the whole community for a donation !

Lastly its a Donation so can not force anyone , Right ?

Exactly! All that happened on a Sunday afternoon. Plus the modes were also different. It takes a hell of a time and effort to collect it all under one roof. And he was doing it on mobile.

@ak@sh I know it’s emotional for everyone, even for me. But one should never comment without knowing each and every thing that went on behind the stage. It’s easy to just read posts online, make a picture according to one’s emotional makeover and conclude things in a hurry. This is not just about you but I know many others look at this only from this limited perspective. Just as I mentioned in the very first para of my long post.

So I suggest you to lock the thread, take a call based on your group’s discussion and then come up with an approved plan and let people just choose whether or not to donate and if donate, how to give. Throw up options than again put it for discussion.
