Stay away from MTS. Worst data card service provider.

Hi guys,

Just ended my conversation with an MTS rep and finally disconnected the mess called MTS. it all started when i saw an offer on desidime last month for MTS 40GB for 999 which promised 9.8mbps connection. The reviews from some members were good so thought i would give it a try. I wanted MTS to do a demo so that i can check the signal strength however i was not home and the MTS guy convinced by wife that their company does not offer a demo and the rep assured excellent signal strength and speed. My wife trusted the sales pitch of the MTS rep and paid for the device. Signal strength varied between 3 and 4 bars but the speeds never exceeded 100kbps and during evening hours it was horrible 30kbps against the promised speed of 9.8mbps. I understand that 9.8mbps would be in optimal conditions so i had an expectation of at-least 2mbps speed on constant basis but MTS was much more horrible than i thought. My dial up connection which i used 12 years back used to provide better speeds.

Called their helpline and raised a complaint 3 days back. They assured a resolution within 24 hours but i got no positive response. Called today morning and requested for disconnection. First the guy declined to take the request claiming that i need to wait for at-least 1 month before i could disconnect their service. After giving a mouthful he agreed to take the disconnection request if i make outstanding due amount payment. in-spite of a non working connection they still wanted payment to be done. Anyways paid the dues and disconnected the connection

I would request the fellow members not to fall for their lucrative offers and think 10 times before going for MTS.. 40 GB sounds too good for 999 but like the wise have said “if it is too good to be true it probably is”.

I am sorry to hear about your bad experience. I have been using it for past 20 days and have had really good experience. Am not even in city and stay in rural area and have used Tata as well as Reliance and MTS beats both hands down. This is my result

But, please note that this is further 4kms away from my town and in deserted area so signal is a bit suspect. Inside town & Chennai, I easily get 4mbps speed and I have consumed 35Gb of the 40Gb plan!

I’m using MTS mblaze ultra since around 6 month or so (shifted from reliance netconnect)

I’m happy user of MTS so far. Right now i’m on 999 plan (20 gb unlimited plan) I get around 2mb per second speed which is max. Which is way way better than reliance (in my area)

had the same experience , the net speed was damm slow …later used a usb male to female 3 meters usb cable and connected net setter through it- it worked very well https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif not as they offered but still happy as there is no other better net offer available here. those facing problem try above thing.

Thanks guys for your opinions and suggestion. I’m glad to know that some members are happy with MTS. Looks like service is area dependent .. @above. Check with your neighbors and see which network works the best in your area..Airtel and Vodafone works fine in most places but its very expensive

@cybertechie- Which area you stay in? I used it in Kellys and speed was really good. Used Reliance for longest time with manageable speed but finally decided to go for this because of better data plans.

Me too have the same story. My speed hardly exceeds 0.5Mbps in the night time. I took the connection after one of the accenture engr staying in my building suggested MTS. I regret now for not going for a demo and taking the connection https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_sad.gif

Things has turned for the worst. Even after settling all dues, MTS is demanding another 907 rupees claiming that we never disconnected the connection. Funny thing is that i still have call recording and confirmation number of disconnection along with bill payment receipt. It seems like MTS has engaged some private firm for recoveries. I think its time that i pull these guys to consumer court for some hefty compensation.
