Also remember it’s for 1 year only later you need to pay 650 bucks per year plus your hosting charges which average 3 to 4 thousand bucks based on the features in the unlimited packages.

Good point about the renewal charges. As for the hosting charges, that depends on his needs. He could get hosting for free, pay about 1K annually, or pay 10-12K per month depending on what he is trying to do.

Buy from Domainindia.org. You will get cheap domain and limited hosting for 680 per year. I use the same on my blog. Purchased domain and hosting for 860 Rs.
Keep moving your domain every year from one registrar to another, they give offers on tranfering domain to them. Transferring would cost you half of renewal cost, sometime even less.

Sameer, it seems like you are ignoring all of the suggestions offered here and blindly doing what your experienced or inexperienced friend has suggested. Dreamhost is decent for hosting, but their domain renewal costs are likely more than both Godaddy and BigRock.
As people have suggested, go with the cheapest new domain offer (50-60 bucks) at a major registrar like Godaddy and then transfer the domain before the year ends to an always-low price registrar like BigRock.

Oh, cool. You never posted an update about the domain registration and the post you quoted was still talking about domain registration so I got confused.
There are lots of options for hosting. Seems like you are hosting a personal site so Dreamhost is decent and so is HostGator.

Even i’m very new to this.I’ll appreciate if someone can explain in laymen terms. As i understand -
1) Need to buy & register a domain name
2) Need to buy hosting space
3) Need to build site (a small e-commerce kind with payment gateway option)
4) New domain name would need some advertisement too ?
Is there any cheap combo deal going on to achieve these 3 steps ? It will be just a trial web site from my side, so don’t want to commit to more than 6 months charges if possible.
Please share your valuable insights where I can get my site up and running with minimal costs
Go to godaddy https://in.godad...om >> Hosting >> WordPress Hosting (Godaddy’s managed wordpress hosting is nice, I use it), buy basic plan @ Rs 69 per month. You get a FREE domain with 1 year plan so add any available domain name.
Your cart value will be Rs 840. Now apply the coupon : cjctechwp1 . This coupon now bring down the final amount to Rs 720.
Working with WordPress is easy, you may Google for some tutorials or Search for YouTube videos. With FREE themes and plugins from WordPress Repository there will be no additional cost AND you need not to posses any coding skills.
