Water purifiers are all powered devices. You need to switch on the appliance to use it. Places with powerful is an issue plus years AMC and expensive parts. You need an glass of water immediately cannot Wait 20 seconds for system to statrt

No powered are only filters which don’t cleaned up water other than heavy impurities. So essentially both are useless for most.

There is an alternatives a power less purifiers developed by BARC which is between both and does the job well Google it to find who is selling it online.

The calculations will always be different for different people!
For me – If i donot use RO then i spend around Rs 12000 a year on 20 Ltr water bottles.
I bought Kent Grand plus for some odd Rs 11500 and used it for an year. It means i have utilised my whole amount in just 1 year and now if i have to spend Rs 2000 on amc every year and further 2000-3000 on candles/membrane even then i am saving half of my money by not taking water bottles and by using RO system. It does not matter if i am spending half of its cost every year as maintenance as long as it is giving me the desired results. Also even considering electricity cost it will still be economical for my case. For others cant comment as it all depends on the amount of usage.

Last Month, I got an Aquaguard Crystal Water Purifier from amazon for approx Rs 4700 after all the cashbacks and discounts. Since in my area, the water is already quite pure and has low TDS, therefore I needed only a UV purifier and am pretty happy with it. The Amazon CS co-ordinated with Eureka Forbes and the installation was done within a day after the delivery.

i think @ParthP mentioned it in the link above (points to the 3 months old post). Oorja solutions i think are taking BARC tech and Dolphin products may be it. Though @Dharmanath are you mentioning BARC’s DWP type product or the bicycle mount tech.?

@Parth w.r.t. your older post, one query: is the input, soil/ground water or treated/potable water (municipal)? In so far as i know, cetirus paribus, costs of reverse osmosis membrane/ frequency of replacing consumables is higher in RO than in UV + ionized charcoal/carbon systems. But UV type units are a ‘total’ waste in safeguarding health if input is untreated sub-soil water (bore well), RO primarily helps in that.

@sbdtrial not to downplay Eureka Forbes. But for many reasons (including some stated above by others/me), AG classic is a dud . Archaic and lame tech. This is not to act hoity-toity. My folks still refuse to give up on the 15-16years old (yes, 16!) old junk thats seen umpteen candle changes, pcb and uv lamp replacements. But ‘satisfaction’ is a pretty subjective thing. I have heard Sr. GM marketing talk to us informally and confessing that they knew their products were not the best or the most effective but the Eureka Forbes business model back then (2000s) was direct selling. @sbdtrial, the kind of things that find way into our water sources or the way city pipelines of sewage and potable water run head to head (and break and mix at places), plain fiter, ionized carbon, uv method isn’t in any way a ‘great’ option. Again, please dont take it that i am downplaying your help/ advice. We still have two units at two different locations and I can do better ‘servicing’ of an AG classic than anyone else I’ve come across. Even now, it still is budget priced, though 5years back a similar compact Phillips unit I had suggested to our neighbours back then. That Phillips one was easier to clean (the filter part) and replace.

LOL never seen the bicycle mount product of BARC know only the first kind they licensed it for masses.

Bicycle mount would be rather a good idea, instead of cycling arround once can do spot cycling and purify water at the same time https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_biggrin.gif

In my society there are mix of both water(soil/ground water and treated/potable water-municipal).

We have taken a year contract from local RO serviceman which includes 4 free services in a year(every 3 months) for 1500 rs

when the buzz around Eureka Forbes’ knock-off/copy product similar to LifeStraw/SteriPen/ PureEasy was high i had done a half hearted research for some desi ‘jugaad’ and came across

with some loud multilingual, late night TV spots, it could be marketed as an excellent all-in-one. Exercise (loose/increase weight), water purifier and enviornmental friendly transport https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_wink.gif (and sold for a few thousands per unit) .

ah okay. Thanks fnr the update Parth. Thats how it is in many homes (individual house or even a bldg.), that water source is both. So to get it right, you have a Dolphin unit? Are they Oorja Solutions only unless am mistaken? And the third party service support is easily avaiable at your locale. So at under 400 per service i think its a fair deal (if the replacement spares are of approved quality).
