hi guys,
i switched to Railwire longtime back, but still asking why Airtel and BSNL braodband price is costly ?
Common things about AIrtel and BSNL :
Common DSL modems
Copper wire
High latency
FUP – in range of 5 GB
Unlimited plans – NO.
Brand ambassaodors : Yep, paying some 10 crore++ per year, and collecting that amount in product price. Shahrukh khan, AR rahman and lot are in list
Tv ads spending : Yep, atleast few
Price : thrice the price of railwire/ACT/BBNL
Marketing : spending heavy on marketing, less on service to people.
Common things about Railwire (owned by railway) and ACT broadband, BBNL (bangalore broadband network) :
They’re using FIbre,
Low latency, High Quality
Unlimited plans : Yes they have true unlimited plans
Price : we can get 10mbps plan in 1500 rs range.
Brand ambassaodors : NO
Tv ads spending : less or literally NO
Marketing : very less.
Disadvantage : available in specific regions only, they’re expanding fast.
People have to ditch or boycott AIrtel/BSNL broadband ?? they’re making us Fool by high pricing even on poor old technology, if fiber means, they charge double and tell us FIbre is costly and best technology, as other low cost providers basic is fibre.
Low cost (but high quality) ISP list (airtel alternative / Bsnl alternative) :

Offtopic:
in my area, people moved to railwire once they introduced, due to attractive pricing and quality, as local cable tv operator is responsible for support, Just one call he fix the issue or within 1 day for fibrecut problems.
i have wifi in both home/office, so no Datapack , saving big money and tension free and these railwire is truely unlimited
@desibuddy You are from south TamilNadu, right?
Hope they come to Pondicherry soon.
BSNL sucks here.

Railwire leases bandwidth from BSNL. This should give a good idea regarding how pathetic BSNL’s offerings are in comparison.
No buddy, railwire is an ISP and own fiber throughout country, and your area have railway station ? then possibly they will be available through your cable operator, just call your cable operator and ask whether railwire available or not.
i am from south india

Just perform a speedtest. The ISP will be “National Internet Backbone” aka BSNL. I have been “using” Railtel from long ago right around the beginning.
Edit: Came across a few Speedtest results where Railtel is mentioned as the ISP. So apparently they are now venturing out on their own as well.
From late 2007 till early 2010 BSNL used to provide 256kbps upto 2Mbps plan for just Rs 900( later revised to Rs 750) and it was almost always around the 2Mbps mark, plus totally unlimited as well. Now it will cost a few thousands a month atleast.
desibuddy.. where u from.. i am from kerala. rural area.. here i have no choice

Airtel is very big brand now, no matter how is thier service but thier products will always be costly.
I am south india (Nagercoil, Tamilnadu), most of the tamilnadu covered by railwire, hope railwire cover more areas soon.
AIrtel and BSNL high price is mainly due to less or no competition, local ISP’s are now emerging in lot of cities, hope they will fullstop this airtel/bsnl thing.

their idiotic plans
bro I am living 25km away from railway station. is there any chance to get a WiFi connection to my area? What would be the best plan in Railwire ISP? usually I wouldn’t use more than 2.5gb per month only for browsing."@desibuddy":http://www.desidime.com/users/95058 wrote:

Where are you from?
any user of reliance broadband unlimited plan here? how is it?
bro railwire is not available all India
Bsnl has its network in all India . so u can say it is monopoly , becoz ppl hav no other choice .
in some parts where Airtel is available ppl will choose it ….
Airtel and BSNL are the ISP that are most popular and most used …. BSNL has wide coverage even in rural areas .
currently most ppl need low latency and BSNL offers it …
Well iam a different user – i neither use railtel nor BSNL
cheapest and satisfies my all needs
