hi guys,
i switched to Railwire longtime back, but still asking why Airtel and BSNL braodband price is costly ?
Common things about AIrtel and BSNL :
Common DSL modems
Copper wire
High latency
FUP – in range of 5 GB
Unlimited plans – NO.
Brand ambassaodors : Yep, paying some 10 crore++ per year, and collecting that amount in product price. Shahrukh khan, AR rahman and lot are in list
Tv ads spending : Yep, atleast few
Price : thrice the price of railwire/ACT/BBNL
Marketing : spending heavy on marketing, less on service to people.
Common things about Railwire (owned by railway) and ACT broadband, BBNL (bangalore broadband network) :
They’re using FIbre,
Low latency, High Quality
Unlimited plans : Yes they have true unlimited plans
Price : we can get 10mbps plan in 1500 rs range.
Brand ambassaodors : NO
Tv ads spending : less or literally NO
Marketing : very less.
Disadvantage : available in specific regions only, they’re expanding fast.
People have to ditch or boycott AIrtel/BSNL broadband ?? they’re making us Fool by high pricing even on poor old technology, if fiber means, they charge double and tell us FIbre is costly and best technology, as other low cost providers basic is fibre.
Low cost (but high quality) ISP list (airtel alternative / Bsnl alternative) :

in my area, people moved to railwire once they introduced, due to attractive pricing and quality, as local cable tv operator is responsible for support, Just one call he fix the issue or within 1 day for fibrecut problems.
i have wifi in both home/office, so no Datapack , saving big money and tension free and these railwire is truely unlimited
I am using Airtel Broadband in Bangalore and pay 999(+tax) for 8 mbps (60GB FUP + 512kbps unlimited), I know they use fibre because they are offering 16mbps also in my apartment. Using it for 4 years, had a problem just once (lineman interconnected two phone lines) and that was fixed within a few hours. Absolutely happy with their service.
I was using BSNL for several years before that. Had a problem just once (cable cut) and that was not fixed for month (I switched after waiting for 2 weeks). BSNL is also using fibre, it cannot be joined like copper wire and they did not have spare fibre.

How to set about getting Railtel Broadband connection? I am currently in Gujarat. Can someone just elaborate on the process?
just call your local cable operator, he is responsible for distribution in your area, just give him one proof and photo, he will get you in next day if your area got their backbone.
What do u mean by backbone?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_ba...ne
means, main fibre wire interconnection between their POP (point of present or Exchanges), if your area have their pop/exchange or atleast their backbone pass through means, you will get connection.
Ask your local cable operator
do u know the full form if bsnl, its bhai Saab nahi chalta, airtel is best , using for the last 10 yr, never faced problem in terms of service.

airtel qulaity is ok, but its price is high, thats the problem buddy, AIrtel collecting big money for DSL copper wire internet, but these low cost ISP give fibrenet, cache server (for torrent and youtube which is normally 10 mbps + even your plan is 1 mbps), airtel also have cache servers and utilising LAN bandwidth but they not given any benefit to users like low cost isp’s.
Relaince big mall is underconstruction near our residential area, will try to grab its free wifi singnal once it live using high power wifi antennae

Any one using RAILWIRE, as i m willing to opt to it…
Any first hand experience will be really great for beginners like me.
costly ka pata nahi…but bsnl service n support……are damn pathetic….15 days my broadband was down…i finally disconnected…a**holes they are…technically challenged and in no position to compete….i disconnected and using hathway…..its awesome..reliable n reasonable rate
in our area, lot of guys disconnected BSNL, waiting for relaince as it’s thunder 4 mbps unlimited fup free plans price is lower than railwire

do you know the cost of ONU device that he will install in your house. cheapest is 80$ and fiber wire cost 2$ per meter and a cabel box.

i am sure, your town must have relaince wired broadband, enquire locally or search google
so if relaince is there means, choose it otherwise ask cable operator for railwire.
both are good , hope you will get atleast one.
Offtopic:
In my town, these relaince guys closed the franchise long time before and pulled cables from all homes. but they told us to wait for 1 or 2 month, i think something is going to happen..may be jio fiber, exactly dont know.
I Even forgot the data recharge these days, as wifi is there in home and office, also wifi in home is really cool as your whole family can use it, guest and relatives love it too

do u have railwire at home ? and what money u paid 4 installation ?
@anshu wrote:

yes, 2000 for installation, as i said an old ONU box will do and 1450 for first month internet.
the operator went out of the way, to help me and get a connection, he had to pull the wire 3KMS to provide me a connection.once you get the connection, there is a trick which makes your plan NON-FUP.

what trick mate, already 1450 plan give unfup (truly unlimited 2 mbps) , right ?
NCR area : excitel
http://www.excitel.com/con...s/
relaince jioFi is truly unlimited (upto 40mbps) for 3 months, but still we have to wait for real tarrif details.
http://www.excite...m/
799 rs – Unlimited 20 Mbps – Delhi and around area only.
AT Broadband, Nagercoil, Tamilnadu.
http://www.atbroadba...n/
16 mbps for rs 699
100 mbps for rs 2499
eventhough it have fup, but after fub speed is 2-6 mbps unlimited, hope major players in nagercoil area BSNL will go down soon, as big promotions are going in AT broadband (Free installation and One month free)
any update on low cost ISP guys ?
in our area AtBroadband reduced price drastically, and Asianet broadband is expected soon in our area
Which area ?
In coimbatore some 70 + fiber Service provider for rs
I’m using Alliance Broadband since June this year. The service is very very good. There was hardly any issue. I think they only service in West Bengal.
http://alliancebroadband.co.in/index.php?page=N...
I’m using Prime+ plan and pay Rs.767 per month (650 + taxes). They give me 40mbps unlimited plan. Speed is very very good. It’s so good nowadays I only download blu ray quality movies which are around 10 GB in size and it hardly takes an hour to download the movie using torrent.
If I add 4-5 movies at a time in torrent, the speed goes like 80-90 mbps. I don’t know how but I’m loving it!
and Yes, there is no FUP. You can download even 1TB of data and they won’t ask.
Speedtest result: https://imgur.com/W...La
i am shocked with the price, hope they expand to other area too.
I am using Airtel BB in Bangalore. 40 mbps (1mbps after FUP), 60 GB, 499+tax.
Bought VDSL modem from them, supposed to be charged 1000 (200×5) in the bill, but not charged.
I’m also thinking to update my modem my monthly plan is of ₹799+ tax but speed is only 2 mbps
^ 20 + fiber Service providers have emerged in past 6 month
^^ 20rs/month?
Hathaway’s new plan here in BLR, as per the brochure : 100mbps, 500gb, 799/month + gst.
new jio plans are out..
rs 799 (inclusive of tax) – 5gb/day , 28 days validity
140gb is more than enough + voice calls unlimited.
I am sure, this plan is targetting broadband users
offtopic:
1gb/day (rs 149), 2gb/day , 3gb/day(509), 5gb/day(rs799) as these are inclusive of tax and we can get some cashback from amazonpay or freecharge too.
Mian thing about jio is extra free services..
HD tv channels, even HBO too without a buffer,
jio cloud,
jio chat
and everything is organised in my jio app, easy to check usage and all
final thing => low and affordable price.
http://mach1broadband.com/broadba...hp
another low cost ISP
100 mbos unlimited for 999 rs + 18 % GST
pay 5 month and get 1 month free
pay 9 month and get 3 moths free =>>really a BIG DEAL, 9 x (999+ 18% GST) = 9 × 1178.82 = 10,609 rs
now 10,609/12 months = 884 rs per month including GST = real looty deal…no FUP
jio giga fiber is expected in august 15, so low cost ISP providers are already started giving discount or increased the fup usage, hope jio giga fiber will give more benefit.
What do u mean by backbone?
