1. i hope this upgrade doesn’t delete any data especially from c drive.
2. is it better than 8.1? and how is the performance and all. does it support everything as there might be compatibility issues and all
3. i have win 8.1 genuine on dell 8gb ram, i7 processor & 1 tb hdd lappy. will i face any performance issues?
Reasons i didnt go for upgrade from day 1 when it was available for free
1. main reason is ms office 2013 genuine expired but still using it.
2. software compatibility issues as win 10 had just released
3. i heard that we cant run license expired/pirated software on win 10
reviews needed. tia.

1. it will not delete any user data from c drive or desktop. it will even create backup of windows 8.1. if you face any issue with win 10, you can restore to win 8.1 within 30 days.
2. No compatibility issue at all. Using win 10 from last 1 year, working fine.
is upgrade better or clean install

I did upgrade in past but the issue which I faced was frequent wifi disconnection. Finally had to roll back to Windows 8.1. Hope this issue is resolved now.

is the upgrade smooth on win 7 do we need to make any settings after upgrade.
I would definitely ask you to upgrade because win 8 is bad and windows 10 was better in a lot of way. the start menu is back and useful it has cortana etc etc. but main thing to upgrade is Direct x12 if you are a gamer it will be great in the future. don’t miss the free upgrade or you have to pay 7k after 29 July
Is There Any Steps To Disable Automatic Updates ( Win 10 ) ?
I Tried 2-3 Different Setups But None Of Them Able To Stop Automatic Updates
win 10 >> win 8.1

Windows 10 is much much better than Windows 8.1
But High CPU usage issues were there
So if your laptop/pc is having this specific issue, you need to update your BIOS still this problem may remain
The latest redstone 10 builds are awesome functionality wise
Once you get used to Windows 10, you will never feel like going back to windows 8/8.1/7
And regarding the windows 10 update thing, download official windows 10 ISO
update your PC/Laptop once to windows 10
and even if you decide to go back to windows 8.1 you can again update to windows 10 you wont be needing any serial key because your device will be registered for windows 10
But if you have official windows 8/8.1 license and want to upgrade to windows 10 later on a new device then it wont be possible for free

Clean install would be better but many face issue of activation. I had genuine win 8 and did clean install, it automatically took activation code. I didn’t face any issues till now.

No issues as of now. Upgraded to Win 10 when it was released.

Do not wish to encourage piracy etc. but there are no such issues.
Win 7 > win 10 > win 8
But i recommend you upgrade to win 10 when you have the chance to do it for free. There’s no running away from win 10 in the future. The updates are consistent and most softwares do work fine right now.
I had issues with Cisco VPN client when i upgraded on launch day. There were also issues due to high CPU utilization, lagging etc. But the updates over the last few months have fixed most of the issues.
Anyway, Once you upgrade you have 30 days to revert back to win 7/8.1. So just go for it.
Stay on Windows 7. You don’t need any so called upgrade.

same I was also faced WiFi issues then immediately rolled back to window 8
I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 on my Acer Laptop with 2nd Gen i3 and 4gb RAM in August 2015. Faced some driver issues after upgrade which I solved by reinstalling the drivers but still my laptop would regularly show the Blue Screen of Death and restart. However there were no other issues and I used it till March 2016. Then I got a 160GB SSD and replaced my DVD drive with it, and clean installed Windows 10 on it. Didn’t face any driver issues this time and the Blue Screen of Death is also gone and my laptop boots in 14 seconds flat.
I feel Windows 10 is at par, (if not better than) with Windows 7 and have no plans of going back to Windows 7 now. I Have no issues with pirated/expired softwares running on my laptop. I have tried Windows 8 once but couldn’t bear that Start Screen

Turn off Updates Service!
@rajrocks
So, You finally on Windows 10? Will try to Upgrade this Sunday… Might be Last week for Last chance.
@hese
We cant turn off updates on Windows 10 [Driver updates, OS updates whatever they might be]
Although there are few views to pause updates like setting your WIFI network as Mobile network to completely turn off Windows update service from services App/tab

Take a full system image backup to a External HDD
try windows 10, if anything goes wrong, you can completely restore back to your previous state
Before doing all these, do these
1. Your laptop/desktop is based on latest UEFI bootloader or old BIOS?
2. Download Windows 10 ISO and create a bootable USB or DVD [You gonna need this to flash the system image backup

That is optional
You have an option to enable/disable updates for other microsoft products
1. it will not delete any user data from c drive or desktop. it will even create backup of windows 8.1. if you face any issue with win 10, you can restore to win 8.1 within 30 days.
2. No compatibility issue at all. Using win 10 from last 1 year, working fine.
