I think that’s a restriction that has been set in place on Flipkart too. From what I know it’s an indirect result of abnormally high number of order cancellations and returns that happened from that region.

Yikes! That’s a sad move. Is it a move to encourage more of offline sales or any other reason? :\

Due to high cancellation where customers for fun used to order high value items on cod and later cancelled the same..that created the logistics problem and cost escalation.
Also various frauds where the cases were on rise that they received the soap instead of mobile. So now FK and Amz not ship the items value > 5K.

@promocode Here is the real reason why some products are not available for delivery in specific states like Uttar Pradesh.

@DealSeeker wrote:

UP is one of the states that require sales tax/road permit forms for any shipment above 5K. You are supposed to get the form from your local excise office after paying the tax yourself and then send the form to the seller (Amazon). It’s a very costly and tedious affair. This is why Amazon doesn’t ship items above 5K to these states.

As someone suggested, your only option is to get the laptop delivered in Delhi and then pick it up from there. By the way, some local (small) couriers are able to bypass this restriction, but you will have to find them yourself. wink

Sites like Flipkart and Amazon are still able to deliver some items to the states with road tax/sales tax requirement when they have the products locally available in warehouses within that state. CC @raghupro @CrazyTroll

It’s not only UP. Amazon doesn’t ship to Haryana/UP/Jharkhand/Bihar a lot of items, the limits are not even bound by price. I couldn’t order RM3 from Amazon to Haryana relatives or OP2 last year to UP. Had to route it through Orrisa. Or small items like Mouthwash, car freshners to Jharkhand. Their policies are weird.

Even Amazon.co.uk doesn’t ship a few headphones to Mid-East. Had a chat with their CC and they said they couldn’t, didn’t give the reason.
