They mentioned that this headset is compatible with ALL phones !
Which I find a little exaggeration. I asked a question to them if the headset is compatible with Lenovo or not.

Yes, thats true. But Micromax also has 3.5 mm jack and Lenovo also has. The headset that works perfactly on micromax doesnt work properly on Lenovo and vice-versa.
I agree………..same problem I have faced………so test and buy only.

3.5mm TRSS (Tip, ring, ring, sleeve) connectors have two possible pinout standards: AHJ (also called CTIA) and OMTP
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phone_connector_%2...
In short:
- Symbian era Nokias (including the Asha devices) & Symbian era Sony Ericssons had OMTP
- Old Samsung devices (probably up to the Corby era) used OMTP
- First gen Lumias had AHJ (Nokia Lumia 505, 510, 610, 710, 800 and 900)
- All Lumias after that have dual compatibility (except Lumia 620 which has AHJ)
- Apple has a modification of AHJ which requires specific resistances for the control buttons when shorted. (LOLwa for Apple’s proprietary accessories )
- Most android devices (Nexus, HTC, Samsung Galaxy, Dell, latest Sony (2012 onward) etc) use AHJ
- Very few android devices like some Sony devices (from the Sony Ericsson era), some Lenovo devices etc. still use OMTP
(Corrections/ additions to this list are welcome)
Most headsets, unless specified otherwise, are AHJ compliant. The controls might not work on Apple devices, but in general, all will work with most Android phones.
If you have compatibility issues, Google your devices’ AHJ/OMTP compatibility and you’ll find out if you need special OMTP headsets. A simpler way is to test it with old Symbian era Nokia OMTP accessories (hope you find a few lying around your/ your friends houses. Asha phones use OMTP too.)
