The all-new Mahindra Scorpio (codename: W105) is scheduled for launch on September 25, and this is the first time since its 2002 launch that it is getting some major upgrades. While the exterior gets sheet metal changes, the interior has gone under the knife too, and parts such as the dashboard and steering wheel have been drastically upgraded.

The spy pictures show a steering wheel that resembles the one on the XUV500, apart from its silver and black colour. It includes steering-mounted controls, and the steering wheel itself looks much chunkier than what is currently offered. The entire dashboard seems to follow this colour theme with a dash of chrome to the bezel on the display and around the air-conditioning system vents.

The high-tech looking new instrument cluster has an angular housing now, while the air-con vents are rectangular instead of oval. The digital multi-information display has a bright blue readout, and the jewel-effect dials look really premium.

Some photos appear to show a touchscreen in the centre console, which we believe could display feeds from a rear-view camera and a navigation system, besides taking care of the occupants’ in-car entertainment needs. Below the touchscreen, we could see knobs for an automatic climate control. Switchgear for the power windows has been moved from the centre console to a more convenient place on the doors. We could also see a chrome ‘Scorpio’ badge on the dashboard, adding a premium feel to the interiors.

With the updated looks and added equipment, the new Scorpio will likely be marginally more expensive than the outgoing car, and customers might have to pay a premium of Rs 30,000-50,000 over the current model.
