Amazon: Champion clothing at 70% off starting at 179. Very durable clothes!

Additional details: As mentioned, Champion makes very durable clothes. I purchased a few T-shirts from them in the US almost a decade ago. I use them on and off for wearing at home and they still look pretty good. Compare that to some other T-shirts (including ones from premium brands like Lacosté) which not only faded but developed holes after just a few years.

Bought a polo style T-shirt during the extra 35% off campaign. The quality was very good. But unfortunately, I had to return it because of sizing issue. Amazon did not accept my request for replacement by the next larger size. I don’t understand why they don’t allow replacement in apparels.

My first UCB T-shirt lasted for more than 5 years of regular usage without any wear and tear or much of colour fading. Even then, I had to dispose it because of tearing of the collar. The body part remained perfectly intact. Based on the material in Champion, I would say it should last at least for three years. https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

He meant to say other brands’ tshirts faded and developed holes and not those of champion.

Yes I know he wasn’t referring to Champion. I commented saying it is still reasonable enough in terms of other brands too that they developed holes after few years.
Champion quality is very good – I am aware of it.

I did mean a few years. You see, I use an electric dryer for drying my clothes rather than hanging them out on a clothes line in the sun. Picked up on the habit/advantages during my time in the US. So all of my clothes last a lot longer and look a lot better even after years of use — no sun to fade the colors and no undue stretching of the fabric by the wind to weaken the fabric.

If you are surprised why I still wear such old clothes at home, it’s just a personal preference. When I am at home, my only concern about my clothing is that it should be comfortable. So nothing seems more comfortable than the same old t-shirt I’ve had for years — having made tons of memories while wearing it and having the feel of the same worn smooth fabric I am used to. I should clarify that I have no such habits when it comes to my clothes for work/recreation. Hope it makes sense. https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_wink.gif CC @Magus @Spock @batman

probably DS has picked up enough cues by now that I am NOT overly enthusiastic for paying a high brand premium, and though I do carry my bias/ biases .. i remain a person with a more value oriented mindset.
[using Louis Philippe, Raymonds (and later Parx for jackets) was purely a function of habits formed out of circumstances. Read: hand-me-downs being dumped on me, which i started liking.]

although I too am guessing this, DS and I did not interact on this today https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_toungueout.gif

.. had to dispose it because of tearing of the collar…
i hear you https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_sad.gif
best of my uppers, despite best of my/ cleaners efforts have often resulted in the wear and tear of that area !
even some of my favourite formal shirts, so also many of the Tee shirts of ColorPlus , Classic Polo and such.

Thanks for reinforcing the fact that Untied Colors of Benetton works/ worked well.
[till almost age 18+ i did pronounce it as Untied and not United, i do not know why that confusion came.]

i can completely relate to that and agree. unless of-course the wrinkled noses and jibes of the people around makes it worthwhile to switch-over on-to something they find okay enough to shut-up ! (sometimes those around are too close to us and have to give in, into their choices)

@DealSeeker wrote: ..So nothing seems more comfortable than the same old t-shirt I’ve had for years..

with the exception of birthday suits. (though same restrictions apply to me as stated above !)

@DealSeeker wrote: having made tons of memories while wearing it and having the feel of the same worn smooth fabric I am used to.

agree to the second part and in general, being an emotional fool, yes, i too am change averse and would rather hold on to something if it has served really long.

[that tons of memories part made my lascivious mind go on an overdrive till i realised who’d have a tee-shirt on while.. errr.. i mean you said you do not have that habit for clothes for work/procreation .. so i was good/ mind back in first gear]

off-topic: not contradicting for the sake of it, but genuinely curious. was/is the dryer the kind that removes moisture completely (or even close to 95-98%) ? if so, then does it really ‘save’ or keep the fabric and garment shape safer in the long run [as compared by you to the deshi (or videshi) dhulaai ]
The reason i ask is ‘cause 6 years back a close relative’s hard-sell of the idea (that we take a dryer) did not find me that receptive. but if climate is humid or cold but not dry and time/space constraints do make the dryer a worthy alternative.

Bro, an electric dryer is essentially a hot air blower attached to a tumble machine (think washing machine without the water). So they are also called tumble dryers. And, yes, it can and does remove the moisture completely over the period of an hour. Your relative was indeed right about the points he/she made about clothes dryers. Another plus is that after the machine stops, if you immediately take the clothes out and put them on hangers, you won’t even have to iron your clothes (might not be suitable for dress shirts). https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_wink.gif
