They are high-quality plastic material , washable brooms .. far better compared to local brooms .

Exactly! This is the best broom available in the Indian market AFAIK. It really doesn’t shed unlike the regular brooms. And even the old stock sells for around 160 in local stores. So this is a superb deal.

Thanks BK, bought 2.
For those who don’t know about this brand broom, it is one of the best brooms out there, using it from 1 year, still like new and no damage. Rs.60 is dirt cheap price for this broom. Amazon sold this in lightning deal for 99. Also available in Grofers but 60 is a steal. Enough said.

But, after moving back to India, I happened to research the available cleaning options for my home and I hated how the regular brooms shed for the first few weeks of usage. The only good options I discovered for the Indian tiled floors were either this broom or the Scotch-Brite Microfiber Mop (http://www.amazon.in/Scotch-Brite-Flat-Mop-Refi...).

Edit: @Groot_deal BTW, IMO, using a vacuum cleaner makes sense only for carpeted floors. I guess your house is carpeted. If not, I suggest you get this broom for your household and save on the unnecessary electricity consumption and noise pollution.

if you are saying that such plastic fibre brooms of the local variety in local markets are at 50-60Rs., then it may not be entirely comparable.

Gala started off as a VFM brand and established itself as a quality maker of such household items.

eventually they outgrew their skin, which when shed in light of competition from unorganized sector and eventual board room seats to Germans

necessitated all those unreasonable price revisions (upwards) even if the value proposition was not there.

and please do not hold it against them for the marketing literature.
even the halwaai shop near here packs things in cartons with beautiful labeled ‘recycle’ logo and ‘do not litter’ messages and the odd ‘member of Snack Food Associatio’ etcetera.

so for a part German owned (since 2009) company to write nice things on its products is.. well.. is expected !

bought two just for checking if it is worthy for gifting/ giving away to any acquaintance (relative).

the domestic helps that i ever bounced the idea to shot it down saying uss sei dhool bararabar nahi aata.

but on probing and analysing the situation, i could only think of two things;
1] static built up in these can cause the dust or particles with same/opposite charge to behave funny.
2] the overall length of the broom and more so the handle length/design is not as big, sturdy as the usual kinglong or kingkonng or whatever Gala calls them (the 110-120 rs grass ones in Dmart etcetera)
so people aren’t use to the extra effort needed or maintain that hunch posture to use it by bending extra

obviously, i am just saying all this on Desidime. to the domestic help or the lady family members in the house all i do is the acha, theek hai lets never buy them silly brooms and quickly make an exit before the tables turn on me,
