Real LED TVs are only made in huge panels like cricket ground etc.

All the retail TVs you will find are LCD TVs.
they have same LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) panel. think of this panel as a screen behind which light has to be thrown from the back.
the only difference is in the backlight. normal LCD have CCFL (cold cathode fluroscent lamp) or tube rod like backlight.
LEDs have LED (light emmiting diode) backlight. the panels are more or less the same.

most economy LED TVs have EDGE mounted LEDs. led backlight basically has advantage if the LEDs are back mounted and have local dimming. this is only present in very high end LCD LED TVs.
So the basic difference is the lower power consumption and the mercury free nature of the LED vs CFL.
