→ Do they classify airfares as refundable even if only Taxes are refundable?

I have seen flights been labelled refundable though 90% of the amount is liable to be deducted in case of cancellation.
Isnt there a standard rule for refundable/non-refundable fares?

Dont airlines necessarily need to refund tax and airport surcharge amounts in case of cancellations?

The one that Paytm redirects to is EaseMyTrip’s greedy cousin.
If you book directly with EaseMyTrip.com then no convenience charge.
But, if you book via EaseMyTrip.in then it is charged. https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_rolleyes.gif

exactly.
Cleartrip gift vouchers make little to no sense now! (Convenience fee is added)
Additionally, Indigo app charges no convenience fee for bookings too. (Indigo flights only) https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_cool.gif

P.I.L to @DealSeeker roll

1. Yes, “refundable” fares could mean that only the taxes and airport development fee would get refunded. This is because the airlines are still allowed to deduct as much as the base fare and fuel surcharge as cancellation charges.

2. No, there is no standard percentage amount for refunds of cancelled bookings as the airlines can have varying cancellation charges for each “fare class”. See the following post to understand the concept of “fare classes”. http://www.desidime.com/forums/dost-and-dimes/t...

3. Yes, DGCA has indeed amended the rules a few months ago such that the airlines are now required to refund at least the taxes and the airport/user development fee. This was much needed.

I still remember how shocked and frustrated I was a few years ago when I discovered that I was not going to get a single rupee back for my bookings of about 25,000 because of “no show”. Your hometown’s toll plaza was responsible for that incident (was stuck in barely moving traffic for almost an hour!).

GULP! 25 grands lost due to no-show. Oh man. Too much.

And regarding the Toll plaza, I got that eliminated as soon as I read this post. https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_toungueout.gif

@cybertechie@ was causing the massive jam that day?

I find these 770 rs tickets pretty useless since most of the times these tickets are valid on short routes such as Chennai- Coimbatore, Bangalore- Kochi etc.I travel to Kochi frequently these days it takes at-least 7 hours to reach my place in Kerala by flight. This includes ~ 2 hours travel time from BTM to airport, 1 to 1.5 hours wait at airport, 1 hour flight, another 30-40 mins to get out of Kochi airport. Not to forget the steep taxi fare of 800-900 rs to reach Bangalore airport. On the other hand, i can take a private Volvo/Scania bus and cover the same distance with lot of legroom and comfort for 1,000 to 1,500 rs under 8 hours. I have the libery of taking luxury buses since i stay in southern part of India. People up north, stick to the flight please ! @19 Female Gurgaon

You sure about that? Last time i checked with Mega cabs regarding 700 rs flat fare, the cute voice on the other side declined politely. This was some 3-4 months back. Not sure if they reintroduced the offer back.

These days i stick to Meru cabs for aiport drop. No tension of driving ditching at last moment. Plus you get some cashbacks from Mobikwick.

I have been using it regularly, just tell the driver before he starts the ride and you are good to go
