oops ….requested to merge the topics…..I guess the youtube review makes it pretty interesting
I have the chromecast and one of the biggest drawbacks is that it cannot play any videos that are on your laptop or the phone…..it will only stream online content….this one does local content too.

Chromecast supports streaming videos from laptop/pc to TV. Teewe also does the same, it’s by an Indian brand and cheaper. The max resolution on both is 720p max.

Yes, you can play games and browse internet via your android device. Just download their app.

Those who don’t know how to play your ‘local’ videos on your TV using Chromecast. Download this extension on your chrome browser(in your PC/laptop).
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/googl...
Now, in the address bar put the full path of the video stored in your Hdd. Like C:\movies\sunny_leone.avi https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_wink.gif
It will play on the TV too.

Teewe doesn’t the same via apps and is 1k cheaper but it’s a new product so will have to face bugs if any.

Edit: This method will only display at 720p. Download plex app for full HD.(not sure)

^yep, tried that already…..it was a bit of a pain but for me as the display was getting stuck frequently and then playing. I guess I had to eliminate the browser…..but atleast in my case it did not work great.

Some of the apps…..well, I haven’t tried localcast….but I had tried something else, can’t fully remember. It had some lag issues (like you forward the movie and it used to take 5 secs to catch up to your commands). I have high power wireless n routers and extenders setup…so maybe thats not the problem. Hope the chromecast natively begins to support local content.

There is one alternative, but very expensive for mirroring-

Natively, I believe only youtube and the chrome desktop browser can be cast to the chromecast receiver. Third party apps do more, but its a little choppy.

Use Plex. You will never complain not being able to play local media via Chromecast again. It’s the only App/service that EXCEEDED my expectations in streaming local and online media to a gazillion devices around the world. IT’S THE BEST. Try it.

Chromecast now supports native mirroring and atleast works fabulously for Nexus 7 , Nexus 4,5 , LG G2 etc etc . Presently it is limited to few devices only however with a little tweak you can enable native chromecast mirroring on any phone of your choice (should be android though !! ) . also try Plex which is fabulous to say the least ! I am sure Plex will work out for you ! Allcast is not stab;e yet as it is relatively new and under development.

Between what firmware are you on ?? also is your Chromecast rooted . Between latest Chromecast firmware can be rooted again !

Hi guys!

Great to see how excited everyone is about Teewe. We sure are excited to get this awesome device to you guys.

However, before this discussion goes forth, there are a few things that I want to clear up.

1. Teewe stream at a maximum output resolution of 1080p (Full HD)
2. Teewe does not support screen mirroring for your phone or your PC right now. However we are working on releasing PC screen mirroring as a update in the near future.
3. The Teewe dongle works only with the Teewe app. This means you have to use the Teewe app (desktop or mobile) to play content on the Teewe device.
4. Teewe lets you stream local media (photos, audio and videos) from your phone/PC on to your television screen and also YouTube videos. Documents or games are not supported as of now.
5. You do not need a smart TV or a television with internet to use Teewe. Any screen with an HDMI – IN port is sufficient.
6. You do need a WiFi network for Teewe to connect to and your phone/PC with the Teewe app need to be connected to the same network.

In case you have any further queries you can visit www.te…in for more info. You can also mail us at enquiries@te…in

Cheers,

Just a re-branded Chinese device… I pre-ordered this device at the time of launch. From day 1 I was unable to Play videos via my PC. Mobile App. works fine but PC App. is a pain to use. Their customer support also have no answer they took my PC online via Team Viewer but were unable to solve the problem. Their PC App. is based on JAVA and kindda buggy. For the record this dongle is a powered by Rockwell chipset RK3028 Dual core. Many similar dongles are available out there.

just be aware that you cannot play content of Viacom18 using this. their rep confirmed that. also they are tight lipped about the mobile screen casting.
