Title and post edited accordingly!
I am finding it extremely difficult to get proper reviews for VU 4K TVs. Can anyone confirm if the VU 4K TVs can play 4k content directly from a hard disk? I’ve seen some comments and reviews that say it cannot. VU customer service said that I’ll need to spend 60K more for a 4K player, the built in media player does not play 4K. What surprises me is that none seem to be seeing this as a major problem. The 50" 4k TV has a rating of 4.3 stars on Snapdeal. Isn’t anyone trying to play 4k content on a 4K TV? What am I missing here? How good is a 4k TV that cannot play 4k content? I wish one of the dimers that owns a VU 4k TV could give us a detailed review.
It possibbly play 4K but maybe the connection between Hdd and the Tv isn’t appropriate for a 4k movie being played without hangs or out of sync. So a 4k player maybe a ssd doing what a hdd can’t due to reading and writing speeds.cloudcompute wrote:

I am not sure, however it’s unlikely to be so. My question to the VU customer service was not specifically for a hard disk., it could be a pendrive too. And then if it’s just a matter of doing what a ssd can do, then there’s no reason for the player to cost 60k. If you look at their 4k range, they have 2 models for the 84", one of them with a built in 4k player, that costs significantly higher. Doesn’t that mean that the other models do not have a built in 4K player? Do we have any dimers that owns a VU 4K TV?
Yes, that maybe due to read speed required by 4k content which HDDs aren’t able to provide

Unlikely. As I said earlier, it doesn’t matter if you are using a HDD or a per drive. The inbuilt media player in the TV does not support 4k content. otherwise there is no reason to have a separate model that has an inbuilt 4K player, that costs significantly more than the model that doesn’t. I’ll still be waiting to hear from someone who has used any of the VU 4K TVs.
This TV can now be purchased for Rs 172260 using the 13% cashback coupon DESIDIME01. The 50" 4K TV can be purchased for 69500. I am really temped to buy, however I still do not have any confirmation from any VU 4k TV owner, if these will play 4K content via USB. Dimers please help…:-?
from what i read, it doesn’t. You need to buy a 4k player

That’s what read too, and also that the 4K player costs a good 60000. What puzzles me that why aren’t the VU TV owners making any noise about this? I am sure LG and Samsung 4K tvs natively play 4K content through usb without the help of additional 4K player, because I’ve seen their demos. They all have 4K players built in. Is it OK that, without the help of another 60000 worth device, a 4K TV does not play 4K content?
Is there any dimer out there that owns a VU 4K TV?
This can be purchased for Rs.1,63,280/- from ebay.in using DESIDIME01,
sorry “Hand picked Deal” Coupon not eligible
You will need a HEVC decoder to play 4K content. This is not available with Vu 4K TV’s.
Brands like LG and Sony have them built-in, so kinda future ready…
you would get the same model from ebay using DESIDIME01 coupon for 172260
http://www.ebay.in/itm/Vu-65-inch-CURVED-4K-ULT…
seller is Manufacturer itself.
