As per this thread on miui forums http://en.miui.com/thread-28434-1-…ml it is coming soon to India. But nobody knows when is this ‘soon’ going to happen.
Retails for almost 40k less on xiaomiworld. But shipping and customs would kill it. Plus here you get at least 6 months of seller warranty from allphoneunlock, kf that matters.
@goss
Done bro.
Hi,
I’m currently planning to travel from Hong Kong to India. It sells for only 3999 yuan in China, around Rs.40k. I’m very interested to get one but worried about the hassles of bringing it home.
Did some googling and found the following info:
1. Goods upto 25k are exempted from customs. Excess value alone is taxed at 36%.
So, if this TV is fairly estimated as worth 40k only by customs, then i need to pay taxes for excess 15k only, which comes to around 5k.
2. Airlines may slap a oversized baggage fee which is 200 USD, i.e. roughly 12k.
3. I’ll have to spend for shipping from China to HK which might cost some 1000 yuan, 10k rs.
So theoretically, it should only cost me
Mi TV2 40k
Shipping 10k
Airline fee 12k
Customs 5k
Total 67k
Can someone shed light on their experience of shipping TV from abroad after last year’s excise increase? I understand that the customs component could vary, what would be worst case?
Finally, worth doing all this hassles to get this?
Coming In India In Jan Feb I Think

Customs laws have changed, now they charge flat 30 percent on TV, so u have to pay 12k as custom.
I second the above.
u forgot one thing
10k more atleast to learn chinese
because u wont be able to operate it until u know basic chinese
THIS TV COMES NLY IN CHINESE LANGUAGE BEWARE

Lol. Yeah, so the better option is to wait for a while as they are bringing it to India with Flipkart, and once its available here, it will be available in English.
Hugo Barra has already announced that the English ui is ready and will be rolled out as OTA update. Anyway, custom Rom with English UI is available I see in Xiaomi forum.
Update: ht…/m.
English version would launch in flipkart, but questions remain.
Content service model is new to our country, if they’re not able to find a tie up, it’ll most probably launch in a higher price, upwards of 70k.
Also, doubt of mi TV would be launched first and later mi TV2.
Also no solid date on launch.
definitely need to wait for the India launch for the pricing, english version and warranty sake, but tfs. It looks quite beautiful from the demo here
However, it will compete with other brands like VU, Mitashi
http://www.ebay.in/sch/LCD-LED-Televisions-/110…
VU offering curved 65" 4k led in 2lacs (samsung about 4lacs for similar specs), so even they are doing their bit to offer current technology at half the price
At Max u can buy Xiaomi Mi TV 2nd Gen 49" Ultra HD 4K 3D LED Android TV for 45K in INDIA. If more than that never search for this TV. Go for VU Brand.
you can directly import for much cheaper prices. Check ppo box
