I was always thinking projectors were not worth it for watching movies after i have seen my school LQ projectors:-}
ANd last year wheen i was browsing through forums like bluray forum, hifi vision. I came to a conclusion that Projectors are very much better than those over priced LED tv’s and also the screen sizes can be made to your choice. AS i told earlier i was planning to buy a tv ( a 55 inch samsung costed 1.5 lakhs), so after i changed my plan, i thought i should buy a 1080p and should be very good, so that my first projector experience doesnot go waste…

i intially zeroed in on 3 projectors w1070, optoma lv-25 and this all with almost same config, of which the acer one being the cheapest. So, i wanted this, so read reviews on amazon, and other sites online and they were all good…only thing which was not there in this projector is the vertical lens shift, which is not much of a problem. So opted for this. And when i tried to buy it directly from Amazon.com my debit cards were not working then https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_evil.gif
but, i was like in a hurry, so chose ishopinternational and when i made a quote it was 49000 only , i was shocked as it was cheaper than amazon.com so i immediately ordered it…I had no experience with ishop, so i thought they will order in maximum an hour, but that was a weekend, and i had to wait till monday for them to call me back to say that i had to pay and additional 11K+ ,7000 more than amazon’s quote. also the price in amazon.com went up 60 $ because of their dealy. But i accepted it as i wanted the projector fast.

projection Screen

This projector can project to a maximum of 300 inches. But my wall cannot come that long. The movies can be directly projector on a wall. It even has screen color setting. But anyways i bought a 103 inch(which exactly fills my room wall) insight projector from shopclues. And the quality looked a bit better through the screen.
Ofcourse u need a closed room, but with 3000 lumens, u can watch movies even with partial darkness.

Audio/ Media player

it does come with an inbuilt speaker of 3w . But with a screen this size.. 3 w is useless

i was searching for an home theatre system and came to know about onkyo and yamaha , which are the real HT systems acc to hifivsion and other forums, sony/samsung/lg are considered crap there.

SO i tried to look for yamaha, or onkyo systems and it was available nowhere in my city , except for 2-3 shops, who told me they will order only for me, so it meant i cannot audition before i buy. SO went to all other shops, but can only find consumer brands like sony, lg, samsung. SO checked all of them and Sony IV-300 impressed me in sound and also i am not an audiophile and the budget was cheaper than the likes of yamaha … after too much bargaining with people there and after showing infibeam price of 16400, brought down the price to 17500. But did not want to waste that 1300 also , so bought from infibeam , which took 15 days to arrive:-?

About IV-300

it is really small and can be wallmounted also in any of the two angles, with 1000w RMS , has a USb port, which plays practivally all formats and sound quality is very good(this being my first HT). It has the maximum connectivity option in that price range. remember even yamaha 30000+ systems, can only play audio through USB. SO i play all my movies through USB and connected HT out HDMI to projector.

S, the con here
the lamp should be changed periodically.
Acer promises 3000 hours in normal mode
and 4000 hours in eco more (2400 lumens)
luks like this is enough …

And people who think of buying can also try grabmore with ICICICOM 15% coupon (only for icici, i think), which brings down the price to 58000+( my bad, i did not check it that time)… or can tell your friends/ or relatives to buy from US @ ~ 40000

VU… Good. Same as my thought. Projector is best than Large Television.

Before buying projector see its have Native Resolution of HD. For all most projector they will say in the title as HD projector. When seeing description you can comes to know that’s not a native resolution, it will support upto 1080P. Then, you want to know Lamp Life, because if you purchased the projector from US / UK. You want to know the projector lamp will available in India.

In India Egate Projector 512 looks good. My frnd using this looks good. Low price also.

I thought the same when I used to watch movies in college lab with the projectors. 4000 hours of lamp life seems low and how much it costs to replace one?

around 10000, i think…
