This is a short review, in general of the mobiles/tabs of those chinese companies which don’t have service in India.

i had purchased Ainol elf ii tablet from ebay seller ainolindia and there were tall promises of service centers in all major cities on their website (it’s still there on their website). I’ve seen that promise made 1 year ago, there is NOTHING anywhere materializing yet.

I had trouble with booting up this tablet. I tried tons of firmwares and decided software was not the issue. Since the seller ainolindia had offered 1 year service warranty, i sent it to them for repair at my own shipping cost.

First, their communication is pathetic, they keep pointing fingers to each other. Nobody responds to the status of your tab’s repair. I gave them all the details of the problem and told that its not firmware related right at the start. And i’d done it multiple times to make sure even retards get that straight.

They finally said they’d repaired it and shipped it back. And after i receive, the tablet isn’t booting at all!!! I was furious at being taken for a ride. I sent them a video of the proof that it wasn’t repaired. And i observed that the seal of the tab wasn’t broken at all. The retards had just done a firmware reset and sent it back to me!

I threatened them to replace the tab now that they’d blatantly ignored all my instructions and just did a firmware reset and sent it. I told them specifically that i’d tested all ROMs possible and that it was not firmware related. They told me to ship it back to them. A*****s, i told them i can’t waste my time and money in all this. They offered to pay shipping cost, but i’d spend so much time and energy in this that i told them it isn’t going to reimburse that. They’d again send it back without repairing it since i seriously doubt they have the technical manpower to open the tab and repair the electronics. Moreover, they had manhandled the tab and sent it with number of permanent big scratches/smudges on matte screen guard which is tough to scratch.

And regarding replacement. They’re out rightly ruling that out. Not even saying that “If we can’t repair, then we’ll replace it”. So, my 8k goes down the drain.

So bottom line is: “I STRONGLY ADVICE NOT TO BUY THESE TABLETS FROM CHINESE RESELLERS”. Anyways now the prices of all branded tabs have come down considerably. So, please go ahead with them, even karbonn, xolo etc are okay but not these strange chinese names who promise a lot but deliver little.

Thanks for this. I have an Ainol Venus Tablet that has fortunately not shown any problems till now.

I have to disagree with your Karbonn,Xolo statement as their service is pathetic. They are refusing to service my mobile by saying stupid things like my service request has not been approved yet by company.

Anyways, my days of buying “cheap” products are over after my horrible experience with Karbonn Customer Care. My motto of life is “Buy apple, if you cant afford it then buy Samsung/Sony/Nokia and if you can’t afford that either then save up and dont buy anything. When some problems show up in your phone/tab they will leave you in the lurch”

Yea, you are partly true. When problems show up, we’re screwed. But if some companies have multiple service centers like karbonn and xolo, then u can try other centers i.e., different technicians. Its BEST if we don’t have to face service, even nokia/samsung/sony after warranty period. Because they’ll mint money like anything after warranty is over.

We have to face service sooner or later. If they are replacing an expensive component and charging an hefty amount for it, its understandable. At the end of the day, the consumer is smart enough to determine whether the service charges are worth it or not.

In my case, first of all i dont see the value of spending a fortune on a smartphone because at the end of the day its just a toy, not a productive device. I am very happy with my Lava 501 mobile. Even if something goes wrong down the line, it wont be much of a bother as i paid little amount to own it.

For the truly productive devices such as a mid range laptop( 35-45k), its always wise to consider extended warranty which includes accidental damage as well. Dell has such schemes and its reliable services are also acknowledged.
