i purchased a pepsodent germicheck 200gm from spencer in kolkata(for hongkong contest) . when i dial the number to register my code PEP4523100089 and we have to dial only 4523100089, i got reply "you have dialled an invalid number. next day i went to spencer and exchange that pepsodent for another one, to my utter surprise that box also bearing thesame code PEP4523100089. all the pepsodent germicheck has same code.so my question when its a general code, why hindusthan unilever advertising as type the code in the box? the contest open upto 30th july 2013 and still its telling invalid entry! i then return the pepsodent and took colgate total. its very hard to believe that companies like hindusthan unilever doing such a thing! anyone having any idea? and i tried the same code for 5 times ,every time ivrs repeat “invalid entry”. even in tv ads they are showing the same PEP4523100089 code. if the contest is valid till 30th july 2013 then why ivrs telling invalid entry? and why all the codes are same? we should report to consumer, if i am wrong, can any dimers enlighten on this matter?

I too had a similar experience!!! And to my surprise found that the code mentioned by you is the same that is on the three packs purchased by me!!!!!
Utterly disgraceful that Unilever and pepsodent are resorting to such unethical and misleading advertising practices…….I am off Pepsodent from now on for sure!!!!!

Hi,

The code you have seen\sent is indeed incorrect.

As this is a code used for them to explain the process.Hence its present on all the boxes (i think)

The real code is printed(in black ink) at the place where the price is printed.

I also made the same mistake as you did ,and started feeling bad about the whole gimmick thing.

But my husband rechecked the pepsodent box and found the unique code near the printed price area.(It is indeed present).
