If you’re mostly a desktop PC user comfortable with Windows 7, upgrading to Windows 8 is probably not worthwhile. If you’re a mobile user who needs easy access to the complete Microsoft ecosystem, including SkyDrive, Windows 8 is definitely a good fit. If your needs lie somewhere between those two extremes, give Windows 8 a close look; the cost is low, but you’ll need to learn your way around the new Start screen and make sure that your existing software runs well in the new OS.

I have tested Win 8 Developer Preview, Consumer Preview, Release Preview & Final 90 Day Release and it looks great with less resources and its faster. It takes time to get accustomed to the new interface (which is the new start bar). My advise…test the final trial that is available for 90 days and see if its for you or not.

(May be useful) It does not support many app / including video playing in 1200×600 screen (Most of the atom 10.1" laptops are having this resolution) You can do a registry edit. But the system performs weirdly after you make that changes That is all (rest has been posted by many) It is much faster than Windows 7 ! It boots much faster than windows 7 ! It will be good for touchscreen laptops and tablets. Not desktop ! Those who are used to windows 7, they may not be able to accept change soon. I still use office 2007 instead of 2010 (confused with many menu’s) I Couldn’t find the start button ! I am missing that badly ! Installed the consumer preview in my atom laptop. Since, i cant watch videos/songs , installed Ubuntu 12.04 and that is equally fast as windows 8 ! 699 is a good price if you want to get something genuine (upgrade even from torrent-ed versions )
