Around 9% goes to admin cost (I personally do not beleive this, but usually this is around 20%) 2. Remaining amount is transferred to some NGO. 3. The NGO which will actually use this for the supposed purpose, will use around 50-60% for their local administrative costs / “Contact Costs” with agencies etc. 4. Lot of money is lost in administrative & salary expenses / sales reps / marketing costs etc. There have been too many NGO’s in the recent past and many of them do actually very little or much less than what you would expect. We take the easy way out and assume that we get KARMA by paying some amount to someone and assume that it is actually being used. It is used, but what reaches the end customer , which is the really needy ones is really peanuts. I would be surprised even if 100 bucks of the 600 we spend will reach the patient intended to undergo dialysis. There are much better ways to get your KARMA and it can start right at your home 1. Sponsor you “Household help’s” kids education. 2. Sponsor a day’s breakfast / lunch / dinner for some 30-40 needy people. 3. See if you can employ someone to do some much needed work for you and pay them well. 4. Pack your unused food from hotels / home / parties etc and handover to loads of people you can find on the street. 5. Teach your household help’s kids English / new language. 6. Lots more if you really think… I will vote this up for your idea, but beleive me the promoters will get the lions share and not the needy ones.
