The biggest annoyance for me is when they mark the pre-selected passengers in red forcing me to do that no food thing on each booking. I have already submitted my preferences in the masters list, why can't they just use the same at the time of booking? A total time waste

Hi,
If anyone could share tips that will help in successfully booking tatkal ticket on high rush routes like Delhi-UP & Bihar.
I have tried a lot, but every time the sites lags so badly that until I reach final page. It shows all tickets have been sold.
There is no issue with my wifi, I checked it. Right now using Irctc on desktop for doing so.

Great post
In confirmtkt app or any third party app, the booking window shows blocked for the first 15 mins, Does this also happen in the irctc app??
Only IRCTC app/website will open on time 10.00/11.00 am for Tatkal booking and Prem tatkal also available to book only form IRCTC.
@Stone_man When you book tatkal ticket in future load money into IRCTC e-wallet and transaction completion will be quick and failure rate is very low. Normally, when you book tatkal you end up a higher price than what it is showing in the payment page. For me IRCTC didn't charge for opening e-wallet.
Use autofill feature/extension
make sure passenger details are saved to avoid TQWL's
Thanks Everyone booked it successfully.

Specially, @LG50 Thanks for mentioning every single step, if you would have not shared it, then I wouldn't have been able to book ticket.
Chose Razorpay & In phone UPI app ( Paytm) to make payment.
@LG50 @myfungang829 Can I choose book only if confirm births are allotted. As I don't want money to stuck.
Yes, always tick that while booking the Tatkal ticket. It's not guaranteed that the money will not get stuck, but you will get a full refund in case the money gets debited.
Yes the site lags a lot. On high demand routes it's difficult to get tickets. Try the irctc app instead of desktop...
1. Use IRCTC mobile app to passenger details, then at the time of tatkal booking, those will be visible to select.
2. Login in IRCTC atleast 5 minutes before the tatkal booking window.
3. Open the required journey for tatkal, click on book now once the tatkal booking window opens.
4. Don't select any preference for seats.
5. Use UPI payments for the transactions.
Few doubts.
1. I have already added passenger details in IRCTC. Chances of booking ticket increases when mobile app is used ? I was planning of using Desktop, but if you suggest then will download and use Mobile app.
2. Do we even have to login in app frequently? I thought it will be a one time process after downloading app.
5. Any PG preference among ( IRCTC, Amazon, Razorpay, Pay U, Paytm etc) , Also, I am planning to load money in UPI lite, as ticket amount is less then 500 and it will fasten the whole process.
Thanks Everyone booked it successfully.
