Im not sure about xtream box, in past airtel has one more product called internet tv box.In this internet related apps only works when you have working dth connection subscription with your account

Airtel internet tv box firmware is locked.you canot use this with out dth subscription even as smart media box like firestick or mi box or any other.

airtel offers are dubious. you should always call their customer care to get the best price. internet has 10 different prices and all of them are more than the one customer care quotes. they quoted around 1750.

i have the airtel internet tv and since it was damn slow, i wanted to upgrade to xstream. the installation guy called and told me that the box needs internet to work and it is an IPTV. also there is no card for it. this put me off. what if internet is gone? sometimes it goes for days.

No FREE channels, if your subscription expires, normally it do not launch netflix/prime or not even youtube, you need to hack it to make it work

I have used the Xtremebox for more than an year and then discarded it and shifted to Amazon Fire Cube. Xtremebox support DTH channels through dish connection and OTT through internet. So if internet is not there, channels will still work but if dish is not there, the channels will not work through internet. For OTT to work mandatory monthly recharge of Rs153 has to be done. Coming to usage feedback. The hardware/software is pathetically slow and has lot of issues. It can crash all of a sudden. OTT keeps hanging a lot and we need to restart the box every now and then. Although the box is feature rich but performance is bad. You can connect USB and play movies etc from there (using relevant apps). You can run movie on laptop and cast it on Xtremebox/TV. But then because of performance issues, things will run very slow.
Airtel Internet box is old version of Xtremebox which is more pathetic so avoid it.

Recently purchased airtel fiber and linked with dth. Now on airtel app it’s showing offer for 1500 refundable airtel xstream box. My current airtel dth planned is customized for rs. 250. If I get xstream box will I still be paying rs.250/mo or they’ll change the pack which cannot be customized by me?
