[FAQ's] Desidime Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Hot page show?
Deals that are most liked by the community are voted hot and makes their way to this page. These are usually the best curated selective deals without any doubt. The hotness is dependent on the user activity algorithm including the visits, click outs, comments and votes.

What does the New page show?
All deals submitted get posted here, for all the new incoming deals this is your go-to everything new page, well worth to keep a track on regularly as some deals might expire real quick.

What is Discussed page all about?
This page displays all the threads that have ongoing discussions; which includes reviews, queries or mere interaction between the community members also popularly called Dimers.

You can also choose to filter your deals with a specific category/merchant too!

Menu Bar
No matter where you are on the DesiDime website, you will find a menu bar with Categories, Coupons, Deals, Discussions,Games and Search bar.

Categories
Click for a specific category like mobile, food, freebies & more to get the best deals from all stores.

Coupons
Use a coupon to make your deal more lucrative; choose for a store to find all working discount codes.

Search
Just type about anything in the search box; be it product category, product name, store name or any other term related to your need to get required results.

Once you press enter, you will be able to see the results with your search keyword (eg Myntra) listed in the entire site. However, you can filter it depending on your requirement as listed below:

1) Deals: This tab gives you a grid view of all the deals related to your search term.
2) Discussion: These are conversation topics related to deals or just queries having a mention of your word.
3) Stores: This will show you all the Stores related to your search, of which you can select the store’s offers you wish to view.
4) Coupons: Get the coupons related to your keyword here.
5) Price Comparison: Checkout the different prices at which the product is available on different stores, and its specifications.

Keyword Alerts
You can set up Keyword Alerts HERE or access it on Menu bar under Deals tab.

Step 1: Click on ‘Lets Select a Deal Alert’
Step 2: Type in any keyword or select categories/ stores, you wish to subscribe to.
Step 3: Select how you would like to be notified (Email/App/Chat)
Step 4: Refine your alert requirement with deal hotness and alert frequency & press “Set Alert”

Get the best deals sent to your phone to make sure you don’t miss any loots ever.

Whatsapp Deal Alerts

Sign up for the DesiDime Whatsapp Deal Alerts service and get the hottest deals of the day thrice directly on Whatsapp, daily.

How do I join the whatsapp group?

Step 1: Click HERE
Step 2: Save the displayed number to your phone book, send a WhatsApp message saying “START”
Step 3: Enjoy the deals now!

For Group alerts
A Group is a Dimer’s own little platform, through which they send their subscribers the deals and offers, they think are the best and worth grabbing. To know more about groups click HERE

To subscribe to a group:
1. Simply choose from any Groups from HERE (you can filter on basis of hotness, total deals, No. of group Subscribers)

2. Click on any group to visit the group page – Click Follow (button on left side below group name) – choose to get alerts via either or all of the options (Whatsapp, App notification, SMS, Email, Web notification)

Any user can set up their own channel HERE with 100 Karmas (more info) and add any deals to their Group; which will be sent out to its respective subscribers.

Email Subscription
On this page – HERE – Scroll down and check on right side to find a Subscribe box – Type your email Id in the box to get the hottest deals newsletter daily.

Social Platform & Apps
You can also follow us on various major social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and you can also get notifications and stay up-to-date with all the hot and happening deals through our mobile phone apps available for Android and iOS.

How do I authenticate my account?
When you signup to Desidime you’ll be sent an email to authenticate your account. Make sure you authenticate your account to use all the features of the site.

How do I choose or change my username?
You will be asked to choose a username during your sign up process. This is your public name so choose wisely (and safely!).

Login to your account > go to the top top corner of the page> hover the mouse on your username, click ‘Settings’. Find “YOUR USERNAME” on the left and click the edit button to change the username. This can be changed max 3 times as of now.

How to reset my account password?
Go to your profile settings; and click “RESET PASSWORD’’ – Type in your new password, confirm and save changes.

How do I add an avatar?
Under your profile settings, Click on ‘Choose File’ and upload your desired image. You can also change/replace your avatar to an image or gif format here.

Subscription
You can find all your subscribed groups in your profile under subscription, to unsubscribe any channel untick the desired alert option.

How to post a deal?

Step 1: Log in to your account.
Step 2 : Click SUBMIT (top right of the screen) to reveal a drop down menu and select ‘Deal’

Step 3: Choose the respective forum from the drop down:

Hot Deals – Online: Post great deals from online shopping websites here.
Hot Deals – In Stores: Use this tab to share all those offline in store deals.
Local deals & Offers: For all those local deals which you find it in your city use this forum to post such city specific offers
Freebies and contests: Use this section for all those great freebies and Contests offers

Step 4: Add Deal URL (This is the direct link where one can purchase the deal)
Step 5: Add your Title – a short brief of the deal including brand name and price.
Step 6: Add Deal Description – Mention the offer details here; precisely what is the discount and why you think it’s good. You can add buying suggestions, images and links to make it more elaborate.
*To post a video just add the url of the video and voila!

How to Upload Images

Step 7: Add a relevant image
Step 8: Add the deal Price, and also the retail Price or the discount percent off
Step 9: Under +more options: Select category for your deal – Fashion, Electronics, etc
Step 10: If you know it, add an expiry date plus the start date (in case of upcoming offers) and then click “Post Deal”

Post Editing & Deleting
Dimers can edit their posts and topics submitted by them within 24 hours of posting.
To edit a post, click on “Edit Post”, located at the bottom right corner of your post/ topic, and once you are happy with it, click “Save Changes” to save and update it.
Also, users cannot delete a topic once submitted by them. This is done for security reasons.
If you want to delete your post, you may notify the admins/mods or simply comment on the topic and we can help you through it.
To notify the admins/ mods about your topic or a topic posted by any other user: Check right below the title of the topic; you will find a few options: Here, click on ‘More’ and select ‘Alert Admin’ from the drop down menu.

Extra Help with Deal display Image
You can locate the image URL by right clicking on the image and choosing ‘copy image location’, just paste the image location directly into the field. You can also upload pictures that you’ve saved to your computer by clicking browse to find the relevant image.

How to add a coupon?
Step 1: Open this page – HERE
Step 2: Add Store Name – Type the store name and select from the suggested store names eg: Amazon, Flipkart, etc
Step 3: Add Coupon Link – Paste the link where users can find or offer to buy more info
Step 4: Add Coupon Code – The promotion code will go here
Step 5: Add Coupon Title – Write a brief title with discount information, category or most relevant brief
Step 6: Add Coupon Description – Can elaborate your offer details here explaining what is the discount applicable and its related terms and conditions if any.
Step 7: Select Category – Tick most suitable option for your offer
Step 8: Coupon Expiry: Select a date that your offer will end on (optional).
Step 9: Check all the details and once you are good to go press the ‘Post Coupon’ button.

Adding Heat (Voting)
On every deal, coupon or topic on DesiDime you will find hotness number with vote button on its either sides. Your opinion helps the community to understand the deal quality better, so make sure you vote! In order to vote, simply use the minus (not so good) and plus (good deal) button and your vote will be registered.

Commenting
The community appreciates great interaction with fellow dimers in order to make new friends or learn more about the deal. Click on ‘Reply’ button to start commenting!

The type of things you may wish to comment are:

• Your experience of the product in the deal
• Thank the deal poster for the efforts
• Ask/Reply any queries about the product
• Mention the cheaper price if found elsewhere
• Anything & everything you wish to talk related to the deal

Apart from Hot Deals there are other forums you may wish to comment are Dost and Dimes and Freebies & Contests

Scroll down on the deal page description and click on the white space to post your comment. Once you finish writing and are satisfied with your comment simply press the ‘Reply’ button.

If you are a new user; you will get this message for your first 10 activity (including deal posting/comments) and will go live once approved:

‘Your post is awaiting moderation and will be visible to the general public, as soon as its approved. Your patience is appreciated in this matter’

Member Tagging
You can tag any user by adding the @ symbol prior to the username; to address any user in the forum. Of course, you don’t need to tag members all the time, but it is a nice gesture to acknowledge or appreciate in case you have a query or want to thank them for the deal.

Posting Images in Comments
Feel free to upload any used product images for review or you may also take photos when shopping out and about and add them to the thread.

To post a video just add the url of the video and voila!

For images & GIF add: <img src=“image url goes here”>

Alert Admin: Notify for a repost or anything for a particular deal and just mention your reason briefly for us to understand your suggestion/query.
Expired deal? Alert Admin: If you know the deal is no longer available you can help us track it
Follow Topic: You can follow a deal and get instant notification of any new activity like comments
Mute topic: If you are not interested in any discussion or deals or don’t want to see any update regarding the same, then use this feature.

Deal Wiki
This is the additional insight from a dimer on the others deal which can include more details about the posted offer or even relevant suggestions. Only certain experienced dimers have access to this feature as of now. You can find the deal wiki just below the deal description.

Store Review
Yes you can indeed review a store and provide your ratings and comments over a particular store from your purchase or booking experience.

Step 1: From the menu bar – click on any store you wish to review OR click HERE to find all stores
Step 2: On the left side just below the store name click on reviews
Step 3: Will navigate to store reviews submitted by other dimers – On left click “Write review”
Step 4: Write a brief title of your experience – Give your ratings – Write a elaborate description and click “Submit”

Inbox
To send a Private Message (PM) go to their Profile page – Click ‘START CHAT’ button – Opens chat window

OR Click on the chat icon on the top right corner of the page – search with username on the search bar on the left – Click on the respective username to start chatting.

You can find the username of the deal poster on every deal so just click on it to go to their profile.
Note: Sharing contact details in topics is not allowed, however you can do it via PM.

Leaderboard
It shows you a list of the most active and most enthusiastic contributors of DesiDime on the basis of their positive feedback received (votes on their deals & likes on comments), positive feedback given (voted or liked other dimers content) , the number of fans they have in the community and the current dimes earnings. Go to the main Leaderboard PAGE

Notification
Check all your associated activity happening on your topic including comments, likes and if a fellow dimer has tagged you here. On the site header; find your username on the top right, the next bell icon is the notification button. Simply click to reveal a dropdown of all your notification and click view all to check all at once.

Karma, Ranks and Badges
Karma is a reward you receive for your contribution to the community. It is a measurement of your expert input to solve queries and depending on how beneficial it has been to fellow dimers; they would bestow you with karma.
Deal Newbie, Deal Lieutenant, Deal Captain and other such terms are a representation of your activity level on DesiDime. You are given these titles, as a gesture to value the loyalty of our Dimers. This is not just limited to posting deals, but it also depends on your overall contribution to the entire community. Currently, we have 11 Ranks to reach out for.
All new users join us as “Deal Newbie” and the ranking goes up gradually based on how active you are in DesiDime forums. The ranking is determined by your Karma, a reputation system developed by us.

You can view all the Ranks on your Profile page
We have 55 Activity Badges and 24 VIP Badges for our Dimers, who distinguish themselves by their uniquely valuable participation. You can view all these Badges, on your Profile page just above the list of Ranks.

To check your Activity Badges: Go to your profile; hover over each Badge to see the various degrees of contributions you need to make to the community, to earn them.
On the other hand, for VIP Badges, the team of admins and moderators select suitable achievers after thorough observation, analysis and discussions; although you will know what each badge represents based on its name. The VIP Badges are given from time to time. So, we recommend you keep up the great job that you are doing, and it won’t go unnoticed.

Fans
Like any particular dimer’s deals or their posts? Show the appreciation by becoming their fan!
Go to their deal and hit plus button or head to their profile page and click ‘Become a Fan’ button.

*Click on your username on the top right to see an overview of your profile – Dime earnings, Karma Log, Badges, Ranks, Groups subscribed, Muted Topics, Fans, Deals, Topics, Store Reviews & Coupons Posted and Gold dimes earned.

Games
Find games on the menu bar to play and win dimes or exciting gifts.
Housie: This is like any classic housie game conducted every Wednesday at 4PM. To know more about prizes click HERE

in that case it will be right that someone post with their confirmation proof and re-post it .

Yes Only for @sANyAmG, New system hurt him most as it was automatic system without support of few admin/admins.
He kept requesting to admin not to implement new system and later on requested to let him complete 2000fpds before new system as he will not be posting more deals. But here he is again🙄😜😝

missed loot deals posted by experinced dimers. now alot of old dimers left dd bcoz no benifit for dimers.

example

before – if u get 100 fpd ( old dimers) thn u got around 5000 dimes ( 30*100=3000 + 2000 ( for 100 fpds)

and

Now

you can calculate the

alot of good deals posted by good dimers boss. but dd no too much traffic

anyway.

i posted for dimers bcoz all dimers spent alot time on dd

My quota ended with 1299 FPDs.
One more would have given 2000 dimes !!

It’s not about old but fabulous contribution by any dimer, and I agree such dimers should get incentive according to their effort.
Yes current system has some issues like @admin said there will be no grouping of dimers to vote up each others deal but it doesn’t seem so.
So this new system can be improved with all dimers suggestions rather than switching back to old one aka biased one😆.
