That's  wrong. It is claimed that these medicines are high quality, but most of them are prodiced in bulk by smaller companies without any quality testing. Tje day PM  HM and others will start consuming jan aushadhi for them and their families that day u can say they are quaity medicines. 

There is hughe process of quality control for medines right from quanity of ingredients, to quality of additives, the type of coating, pressure required to bind the ingredients hard enough to easily disintegrate in the gut and get absorbed, the type of pacing, storage and blah blah.

It is just like talking of jhuggis or ews flats and saying high quality housing is highly affordable now which we all know would be a lie. or eating half cooked rotten breds and saying quality  food is chep these days...no it isn't.

They are a gift for people whobare really poor and can't afford, but people wh wear levis clothing,  travel in aircrafts and eat at dominos...do spend on ur health rather than these gimmicks

Nothing against jannaushadhi But what if just half the dose of a branded medicine could give u the same effects with half the side effects. Medicines are meaures in milligrams, even one mg extra has serious side effects.

I buy often generic version from the PM jan aushady nearby. Never online. I always check manufacturer name, expiry date 

I have a pharma back ground so i kind of stock all neccessary medicines cheaper here. But thumb rule is I ask to show a strip and check whether the manufacturer is a famous /known just a small firm (I have had horror stories on non existent Quality Control of most small firms ) .sometimes big co's like Cadilal,Elder like that famous companies sell at this cheaper segment too.

Effectiveness mostly yes probably 60% may be. but you wnt to pay much less you have to take a chance. Always look for any side effects other than usual indicated for the drug after taking 1 tablet.

In India, it is extremely difficult to ensure quality, genuineness and authenticity of the medicines unless you buy reputed brands from reputed outlets. There's no mechanism in our country for random sample collection and quality checks to verify fake medicines. During occasional checks samples of many reputed brands have failed.

Even the most reputed brands medicines are sold fake here. Many reputed brands spend more on advertising and less on quality. At the same time, in Jan-Aushudhi, some reputed brands such as Cipla offer cheaper medicines. 

But at the end of the day, customer has to exercise his own discretion to maintain a balance between quality and prices.

For some people who hate healthcare system so much , pledge today to only go to AYUSH doctors, never utilise any icu services , emergency services of any allopathic doctor, all issues with people who hate will get solved. What is generic .

A patented composition  of medicine after a period is available  for other manufacturers  to produce and  manufacture the same .

Just ordinary eg  .  Giving  , Paracetamol  Crocin was brand , now  Dolo and many companies .

CIPLA  , Glenmark , Sun pharma , mankind , and many reputed companies also manufacture generic  after the patent  period of original manufacturer  over and the price of those is very less .

Check online for options  of  same compostion .

To clarify,  Composition is not the only thing. There are many factors which affect drug absorption and this concentration in the body.

For example, if a drug is prepared even with a little more pressure than required, Then the drug will dissolve in the small intestine rather than the stomach making it useless. In other scenario. If the drug doesn't have a gastric resistant coating that drug will dissolve in stomach, rather than, in the small intestine again, making it useless, it isn't so simple. There is nothing so bad with Janaushadhi except for quality conteol issue. 

what I mean to say is the factors are a lot more than what they look to a Layman.

I would love it if Government comes up with a strategy to basically quality controls the generic drugs as required, I also want the medicine prices to reduce. I also want that Indian population should have almost free healthcare system, free food and Free Living, but then in reality these things doesn't happen.

Is substitute of same brand always same? My parents doctor gives medicines which are on the higer side of price, online stores call to order substitute with same components but different brands. My parents are skeptical and avoid them. Are all substitute brands same?
