this is a very good info…so vu
but practicality wise, add to that the cost of voltage transformer we need to buy to get this working in IND – may run into a couple of thousand bucks

Also i remember reading someone’s post in DD that there there are certain incompatibilities wrt TV standard formats between India and US resulting in US TVs being unable to reproduce Indian TV signals. Dont remember the member name , but that dude knew a lot about these stuff biggrin
clarify these things before u import! lol

yeah i agree….i am a sailor and i have seen so many of my friends buying TV from US and all that they need is a NTSC to pal converter adapter which ranges from 1500 to 2500… and i am not sure of the voltage transformer as most fo the TV’s are 100-240v..

I had plans to get a tv from the US recently since one of my friends was travelling back with practically no luggage…

Had a kickass deal on a Samsung 3d led 40" for 500$ on amazon – ua40un6030

I decided to give it a skip however for some reasons but here’s my tuppence on the deal

1.This is not a worthy 3d tv since its freq is 60 hz and any tv transmitting less than 120 hz isn’t worth it..so consider a different model

2.Most tvs sold in the US work only with 110 volts but LG sell multi voltage tv…Check with customer care, LG shouldn’t be a problem in my opinion

3.Finally and most importantly, all US tvs only work with NTSC so you definitely need a PAL converter which would cost 4-5K inr,a good one…otherwise none of the dth would work except maybe videocon which supports NTSC at the moment

Feel free to ask questions I will try to help wink

Dude US Television sets comes with NTSC so it won’t work in here
You might need an adapter for it!
Also the voltage transcribes will Cust you around .5k to 2k I hope
I bought one for steam mop it costed around .7k but i am not sure about for TVs adapter price
The NTSC to PAL are tough one to find
It will go with 2k+
Their output will have TVs clarity to get change if you buy a cheap one

Also please have idea on warranty and spares
The must trusted brand in US is Samsung for TVs
So you might get a better deal on Samsung if you can wait for Feb 14
Or wait fur thanks giving you might end up with a new technology!

try checking out deals in the UK/ Germany, you won’t need a voltage transformer smile
Also the ones from Dubai should not need one

^ good info oli smile

herez a small suggestion wink

since it involves cumbersome shipping and extra bucks on supplementary gadgets, and since seller warranty on Indian model is still better than no warranty at all on a foriegn model, the folks who showed interest in getting this cheaply can also check out this TV- using it now- pretty mindblowing

http://www.ebay.in/itm/SAMSUNG-46EH5000-FULL-HD…

No fancy 3d (comeon!), but it’s 46 (4 inches bigger) inch full HD LED 2012 model samsung @ 54k with free Transcend 1TB HDD as per current ebay offers

For me, This is definately a big NO !
I personally bought Sony 40" internet LED TV from singapore and at a great price.
Knowingly I took the risk of not having warranty because Sony doesnt offer internationally warranty on TVs.

Unfortunately my LED tv developed a black line (dead pixel) and Sony India said they can’t cover it in warranty and the servicing cost will be 30K. 30k is much more than what I had saved by buying it from singapore.
So basically I have to bear the servicing cost now.

So I would suggest to go for a product with international warranty, especially for such big ticket items.

On a different note – US market will definitely have prices much lesser than Indian market. And the product will be cheap even if you add mail forwarders fees (iShopInternational in this case). But to me, such arrangement makes sense for small ticket item or items which I will be using for a smaller timeframe. More often than not, such big ticket items like TVs will make you repent your decision of ordering without warranty.

Just my two cents.

Please don’t go for anything less than 100 Hz. I have been using a 42" LG LED since 2.5 Years now and have seen many 50 Hz televisions since then. Believe me its not worth it, even the stock prices that keep scrolling on cnbc etc appear to be blurred in 50 Hz televisions. So I would not recommend this.

WHAT does that 60hz mean????
and about the ntsc pal conversion…. there will not a b a problem if u have an HD dth as alsmost all of them have an HDMI output and we can use it to connect to the TV

Deal Newbie Deal Newbie

60Hz means that the video is composed of playing 60 frames per second. 120 hertz is like playing 120 frames per second which will appear smoother to the naked eye… Hence more the refresh rate.. its better

I got my us tv here when I moved to india. It is working absolutely fine. No issues at all.
I got the NTSC to pal converter from raju& raju, kalbadevi, mumbai. They do ship anywhere in india. Costed me 7000 for a normal one and 9000 for HD

U may get cheaper one from eBay but I wanted to buy from.a trusted source. It’s over 2 years no prob.
For voltage issue I was adviced to use 200 vots to protect it from any variation. The electrician told me the formula is tv volts+100 Volta is enough. It

Raju&raju has a site. U can google it. They don’t have any delivery changes within mumbai.

Is NTSC to PAL converter must or HDMI could be another option if anyone is having HD set box but HDMI connectivity in LED (which is there in today’s TV’s)?

Waiting for genuine response.

Its a must except for videocon at the moment which supports both pal/ntsc playback

Btw, hdmi has got nothing to do with playback compatibility
