I got Renewed 5TB Seagate in 3950 but could have got in 3700 with Rupay CC.
Although Renewed but totally unused & brand new , just box was opened .
I checked its health through Crystal Disk info software and surprised to see not even powered on for 1 hr .
Import Sep 2021 and Warranty till Dec 2024.

if from “appario.” I will advise you to at least copy 1 tb of data onto it then check the read-write speeds. If read write speeds are around 10-15 Megabytes per second then even if smart data shows everything okay, your disk will fail soon. I had this experience last year with seagate 5tb and “Appario.” seller. But my return period was over and also thw seller appario. did not reply anything. So I contacted seagate support on twitter and they assured me to give a replacement by visiting service center. … It is better to not buy renewed from amazon at all.

Even the replacement will also be “certified refurbished”(both WD & seagate applicable to all except their top end enterprise class HDD models) nowadays though it differs from repaired product in the sense that these refurbished products are basically assembled from working parts of faulty products returned under warranty so any checking tool like crystaldisk will show zero hours of power on stats just like a new hdd.

I transferred 500 GB data from another 4TB Seagate just to check any unusual behavior and initially I was getting 128MB/s speed then after sometime speed dropped to 58-40 MB/s may be due to heat generated by rotation. Second time getting over 100MB/s speed.
It took me 40-50 mins around and everything transferred was perfectly playing. I did not hear any sort of mechanical noise.
Crystal disk info showed me 0 Days 0 hrs powered on and passed every test . Only 900MB data was transferred lifetime so basically it was unused HDD. CHKDSK gave zero bad sector error.
Import date is also of Sep 21 so it’s not refurbished from any way as its completely brand new and serial no on box and HDD matches and I checked its warranty on site as well to check if I’ll get warranty or not.
Everything seems OK to me but still I will test 3-4 days more for any unusual behavior before return period is over.
I bought so many Renewed products from Appraio in the past and all were completely brand new and still working fine so I can trust this seller.
Generally, 7500 is normal price for 5TB refurbished Seagate or WD but luckily got it in less than 4K with diamond 300cb and bank discount.

Check my above comment, you can not check “certified refurbished hdd” by just using tools like crystaldisk or matching serial numbers/import date. A certified refurbished hdd is basically manufactured just like a new hdd except for the fact that parts used are from returned HDDs. Of course in many cases a certified refurbished hdd is as good as newly manufactured hdd.

Mine received is returned one and not refurbished.
Till date not shown any sign of defect which I was assuming reason for its return by previous owner.
Check the condition and decide yourself.

A certified refurbished drive would also have a new import date, right? As none of the facilities are located in India AFAIK.
In case of my SSD after flashing the official firmware all the parameters were reset.

In your case it does look returned but just for future reference I mentioned about certified refurbished drives.

Yes, a certified refurbished drive can not be distinguished by a typical end user.
