There seems to be some concerns regarding the display in the Mi 11 Lite NE 5G. Probably it’s made by a Chinese manufacturer.

The last POLED display used in the Pixel 2? was pretty atrocious in almost every aspect. Hopefully it’s a newer, improved gen. Some meaningful competition to Samsung would be great.

Having used MIUI for a few days in the Redmi Note 10 Pro I would overwhelmingly prefer stock Android even with little or no customization options. What good are a gazillion features if the most basic ones like RAM management are distinctly below-par?

Majority of Xiaomi enjoy decent custom ROM support.

Battery is the only thing to be concerned about, at least 4500 should be there alongside faster charging

Agree. However, Motorola has promised Android 13 and 14 updates, whereas for custom roms there is no guarantee on the availability or stability of the custom roms

I am more concerned about the lack of headphone jack. Any experience of using type c to 3.5 mm jack? How does it impact the sound quality, battery life. Any other downsides of using the adaptor?

Impact on battery life varies quite a bit depending on the DAC. Expensive DACs have a battery built-in. I was recently researching the inexpensive Apple DAC and was surprised to see the large variation in power consumption. Unfortunately the EU variant sold in India is a handicapped one otherwise it would have been a no-brainer.

P.S. From what I understand if the device doesn’t have a DAC built-in a passive adapter can’t be used. The Apple dongle has a DAC built-in. There’s also one by Samsung…

Yes. But thanks to Project Treble and especially in case of devices launching with 4.x kernel (late 2017 ) the situation seems much better compared to the earlier years.

Same day Vivo T1 Pro selling for 20K !! I have no experience with Vivo phones but SD778 is available for 20K or under so this will appeal only to hardcore Moto fans.

You are conveniently ignoring 2 important differentiators:

  • The 50MP OIS Primary + 50MP Ultrawide camera setup on the Moto
  • The near-stock Android experience with Moto vs. the gimmicky FunTouch OS that Vivo/Iqoo phones have.

That way we can compare the battery also – Vivo T1 Pro has almost 17% larger battery plus a 66 W charger. There will always be pros and cons.

Quoting from a post by a GSM Arena user “It has 2 different panels TCL Huaxing – PenTile :good &  Tianma – RGB Delta: bad. Most of the phones come with the bad display that has sharpness issues and the colours are a bit off. It is safe to say that Xiaomi sent reviewers the good displays tho, so feel free to ignore all the reviews about it’s screen. Dirty move from Xiaomi.”

Really bad black crush issue which is very noticeable in dark backgrounds (video playback ). Mostly affects Tianma panels which seems to be deployed in majority of the retail units. A few have claimed that the issue has been resolved in MIUI 13. I am a bit sceptical as this is a hardware issue and software mitigation is unheard of. For instance  Samsung didn’t manage to fix the black crush issue (much less serious though ) until the 2021 generation whereas Apple devices didn’t suffer from this issue IIRC despite employing Samsung-made panels.

“TIANMA’s  RGB Delta display has coarser images and blurry characters compared to TCL’s Pentile”.
