Panasonic (ever since it resurrected itself and pushed back to claim retail mindspace) has increasingly relied on contract manufacturing (OEM suppliers) for the things marketed under the Panasonic brand.

‎ ‏‏‎‏‏‎ ‏‏

While some of the OEM vendors supplying the panels to Panasonic are really good, now often there is little product differentiation.

‎ ‏‏‎‏‏‎

Their after sales support, is usually better though. That too matters.

‏‏‎ ‏‏‎‏‏‎

Thompson and Kodak (made in India by a Delhi NCR company) too are fairly good for the price.

‏‏‎ ‏‏‎‏‏‎

Sharp and Philips technologically have amongst the best panels.

But their pricing is not optimal for South Asian markets.‏‏
