I don’t think it is reasonable to expect a mfi certified cable at ₹99

Agree but when u charge ur apple device without mfi certified cable and if anything happens ur warranty will be void. It generally happens with apple products..
However thats not the same scene with usb type c or micro usb.
I knw i have had a bad cable and my iphone 6s was totally damaged because of this.. just spend a few more and get a mfi certified cable.. and ya dont go by the reviews. We all know how many ppl are getting 5 star reviews..

Ever wonder how MFi actually works. Or of it’s truly necessary.

Every MFi certified product has a identification/ Authentication chip inside. MFi cables has that chip. That’s it. So that Apple iPhone/ iPads can detect that and act ( charge) accordingly.

I see no reason why a USB cable would damage a phone unless it has wiring shorts or wrong connection.

A faulty Charger can certainly can damage a device though.

It has been speculated by many tech enthusiasts and researchers that Apple throttles down the (charging) speed and performance of non certified products. Even if both the cables are same in every manner except that MFi Authentication chip.

Bottom line always use original Apple chargers or MFi certified chargers for. And try to use MFi certified lightning cable if you can even though they’re very expensive. But a good quality non certified lightning cable shouldn’t “Damage” your phone unless Apple it designed that way.

Apple takes a Big percentage of all MFi acces sale

Very well said.. the last line explains the whole point of mfi certification.. imagine apple sells their cable at very hefty price.. and thats the reason behind not moving there major selling iphones to usb type C. Their major earnings from cables and many other accessories using lighting connector will be gone. Well they gave a hope when they launched latest ipads pro series with typc c port but i dont see iphones with type c soon..

I’m sure if they  start using type C Port instead of the lightning they’d would still  continue the MFi bullsh**t with it.

And the fact Apple users still consider iOS superior and more secure even after dozens of high profile security exploits and bugs just in last 5 years … WTF.

Apple is probably the most greedy profiteering, Anti consumer, Anti-repair company in tech history that I know of.

But their privacy policy is better than Google. That’s something I do admire.

They might rob me, but not my private data. stuck_out_tongue

I’m not a fanboy of any multinationals corporation. But I do give credit where credit is due. 1st.  Apple iPhone is the reason We all have full capacitive touch screen smartphone and App Store or Play Store.

Apple made some of the industry defining products. And most iPhone fan boys might not understand why iOS is better in many ways than android. Truth is for an average consumer (with lots of disposable income/ money) it is Better option when you consider simple software experience.

iOS always had the best RAM management technology. Their 2 GB phone can beat any contemporary 4 GB android in that criteria.

They release just few devices every year. So Popular Apps are very well optimised for those handful of iPhones. Where Thousands of Android phones are released yearly with lots of different hardware spec combinations.

It’s same as PC vs Gaming Console.

Agree apple has that little edge on any android phones.. but average user wont understand.. and ya in terms of user experience simplicity and privacy no one can beat apple.. still there are flows on both sides..
