2 cell battery and a Mediatek processor!!!
Who are prebooking – Are you guys Ambani or something??? sunglasses
Better to spend 5k more for ryzen ~25K or Pentium Gold.
That would be far better experience.

And for ARM fans- Mediatek is not M1!!!

Processor is decent
4 A73 cores + 4 A53 Cores
More than enough for the ChromeOS
But the display is just HD+ and only 220nits (Touch screen is an advantage)

Is this chromebook a good option for kids’ (primary school) online classes? Need something inexpensive for Microsoft Teams mostly – so need decent camera, speakers & microphone. Please let me know if you are aware. Thanks!

Your kid will thank you for that.

You guys need to understand that, chrome os is a locked device. Everything has Enterprise grade security from Bootloader to os. That means you are stuck with Google forever.
On top of that Chrome os has abysmal linux beta.
Chromeos is great for kids in Europe or US but not so in India.

If the same configuration was available in linux I w’d have recommended it.

Now, coming to ipad , same thing applies to ipad. But Apple software support is much better.

ipad – decent usage experience even on basic ipad model
HP 11 – You are on lowest end of spectrum of low cost devices, expect usage experience of the similar level

It’s good on paper, but practically. I’m not so sure. Save your money

Not a bad option if this is the use case
Microsoft Teams (Android App*) works fine on my chromebook (Mediatek powered) but the web version is much better
Its a lightweight tablet laptop and runs much cooler than any intel/amd based windows laptops (Many of the intel/AMD based chromebooks do have heating issues)

Its a cloud-based OS .. so as long as you’re using the browser + extensions.. it should be fine but the Android Apps (via container).. they take more RAM (1/2 in the background should be fine but anything more than that.. you may notice a lag)

But like i said before, the screen is okay.. HD + 220 nits (on par with the screens of windows budget laptops)
and it doesn’t have any hinge (270/360 whatever).. so there is only one fixed position to use it (Not so convenient for other stuff + using the touch based interface)

Microsoft’s 10x based laptops might get released very soon .. and 10x is also a web-based OS intended to run on low-powered machines. I am expecting, MS apps to perform much better on 10x just like chrome apps do on Chromebooks (Android + web-based)

If you want a tablet then get a tablet
Performance of Android Apps will obviously be better Natively than running via a container/VM or an ipad

The screen (resolution & brightness) is better on A7 (S6 lite has s better screen*)

BT keyboards like K380 & K480 (w/ dock) .. they are decent with tablets but not so convenient, they don’t give the traditional laptop feeling (Not a fan of surface pro series for the same reason) . Even with these Chromebooks, if they are including a detachable keyboard then there will be only one port (Type-C).. you need extra docks n connectors

Thank you for your time & effort in providing these valuable insights. Basis the points shared, I feel am better off staying away from this (even though its a tempting deal). I have an old laptop (probably i5 5th gen – not sure though) lying around with a family member – time to get that back and upgrade to SSD and increase RAM. Might be a better solution IMO.

Thanks again. +KG

Cheers!
