I have purchased HT-RT3 last week using JUL1000 and SBI card. However, reliance customer support team said we cannot club offers together. Using JUL1000 voids sbi card cashback according to them. Another point to note is 90 day window to receive the cashback which may or may not happen..

Sony HT-RT40 only has support for LPCM (Stereo) & Dolby Digital (AC3 – 5.1) // Audio //
If you try to play a movie file with only “DTS” audio.. the Media Player re-encodes the audio to DD5.1 and passes it to the sound system ( If you don’t select this option, then there isn’t gonna be any sound )

So.. no use even if your TV has HDMI 2.1 port and can passthrough lossless audio formats (like DTS/DTS-HDMA, True-HD)

It depends
There are many OTT platforms (India*) which don’t even have support for 5.1 Audio ( Zee 5, JioCinema, SonyLIV ) and the ones that have it ( Netflix, PrimeVideo, Disney+ ), they use “DolbyDigital Plus” audio @ 448/640/768kbps bitrate ( which is not a major improvement over DolbyDigital.. there won’t be any noticeable difference from DDP 5.1 >> DD 5.1 re-encode

But if you are using Physical Media (BluRays with DTS/True-HD Audio) or the Remuxes created from them.. then may be getting this ( or similar soundbars ) is not the best idea

For Soundbars – None (<40k)
There are few options for home theatre systems @ ~30k ( Sony HT-IV300, Yamaha YHT-1840 )

https://www.amazon.in/dp/B00N...CM
https://yamahamusicstore.in/yht-1840-black-...ml

Unfortunately post covid, there’s an issue with stock availability and price hikes

For Dolby TrueHD/Atmos, this Motorola variants was selling for 35k in May ( No DTS support* ). Might consider purchasing it @ ~20k smile

I don’t know if it will come to that price. But I have bought zebronics 9400. My plex converts DTS and aac to ac3 5.1 in pass through mode. If I don’t then tv sends 2.1 which is played by all speakers which is bad but haven’t face the problem of no sound. So even if its other than ddp, I get transcoded audio through plex and can play 5.1 without issue

“No Audio” for 5.1 surround is due to Incompatibility and Media Player settings ( Something like Enabling “Passthrough mode” on Plex )

w/ Third Party Players like Kodi/MrMC, Audio Passthrough + AC3 transcoding needs to be selected and DTS/TrueHD capable receiver options deselected for 5.1 Audio

My Android TV supports DTS decoding
So, “DTS/HDMA passthrough” works even with the stock media player (Tested via Sony HT-IV300) but there’s couple of seconds lag due to the HDMI port not being e-ARC/2.1
